I want to bring Lin back, but he and his agent made created their own destiny here. There was a palatable offer, then there was an unpalatable one. I still think the Knicks should match (that might be emotion as much as instinct talking), but there's nothing a petition is going to do.

are you part of Melo's entourage?
You are so pro Melo and anti Lin!
matching Lin, does not mean we HAVE to keep him *if he really wants a fresh start elsewhere, but we can get back assets for him before his 3rd year hits*

You are the same idiot that wanted to pay for Gilbert Areana's contract, with McGee, and their pick
Which would cost us much more than 100m+ in salaries and taxes?

You sure have a great direction and knowledge of the NBA game/salaries/ and evaluation in talent!

Melo has achieved nothing his 1.5 years here, 1 playoff win, WOW!

In his first year here, Felton/Gallo/Wilson Chandler/Amare lead us to the playoffs, not Melo.

NO thanks. Not a believer in him. I like Felton better, and he has a better price tag.

I'll sign the petition, but if you really want MSG to listen you got to call them, you got to email them.

What does more - MSG hearing a few thousand people signed a petition to keep Lin or MSG having their phones ringing off the hook and email flooded? The petition is sort of like a protest area.

Get a hold of yourself man.

Lin was decent but 25 million for 25 games is bad business. Lin played his best ball when he dominated the ball. Now that was great when Melo was out but Melo is the focal point of this team. Lin dominating the ball isn't going to work. Add in the knee issue and the poor play in Golden State and you can see why the Knicks are hesitant to match.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Yes, they did. That team was above .500. The team with Melo, or Mr. .470, wasn't.

Lin played great when he was just a distributor.

The more closers we have (and Lin sure looked like one) the better we do in the playoffs. This should be about the ultimate goal of a championship.

You don't Let Lin just walk for nothing. You resign him and can trade him later. It wasn't a fluke what he did the whole year, he will be wanted by teams. Any team that is under the cap that wouldn't pay luxury tax that 3rd year is game...

I think we must match the offer to stick to Morey for all the times he has screwed us, we will get the last laugh.

Grunweld/Dolan/ and their staff have to sit down and decide if Lin is an asset if we match.
They should be calling other teams, that has the ability to take Lin's salary in 2015, to see what assets we can possibly come up with, if we decide to move on without Lin.

Lin still brings in INSANE amount of endorsements, money, and fans to a team, and if he can be even decent/good PG in the league, he only has 1 bad year at that contract.
We are not paying for Lin's 3rd year salary now, it is in 3 years, so matching his salary and keeping him on during that year are 2 complete different things.
I can see many deals, with 3 way trades, that could net us future picks with a young player, if we match his salary, and trade him in half at the deadline.
What team would not want an extra billion in fans, with a young PG, that Lin could be.

Options to deal with Lin's year 3 salary, why we should match
==========================================================================

1 year of a bad salary is NOTHING compared to max deals like Joe Johnson for multiyears.
Lin salary (at year 3), Felton, and Kidd's salary combined is the = to the players like Joe Johnson, Amare, Melo at multiyears deals.

Sign the petition, it would at least bring back assets for us in the future.
If the Knick's even had to consider matching Field's, they have to match Lins.

Melo can opt out that year at come resign a multiyear deal at 12-15m, like Duncan, Ginobili, Parker, KG, Pierce and so have done at under their market value for the better of the team.

Although I am not in favor of moving Tyson Chandler if Camby shows he is capable of continue playing at a high level, it is an option.
As DPOY and still not over the hill, we can cut cost, and get back assets for him as well.

If the knicks are that worried about the luxury tax. In 3yrs he can trade amares expiring contract. This is more about dolan acting on hurt feelings again. Similar to trading camby & spree
