Solid all around player, he's really gonna take the minimum?

I thought he was a FA too but apparently we have to trade for him. Other than Lee, I think this guy is a great, cheap, solid pickup. Someone said yesterday Indy picked up his $3 mil option. I would trade Gadz and resigned Bibby for him.

Jones is under contract for $2.9M, and the Knicks would be looking to trade for him and I think Indiana wants to shed his salary. Other threads have details how a trade may go down.

Think this would be a solid move; Dahntay Jones can contribute more than an aging Jeffries can, though I do love JJ and his drawn charges.

Speaking of Dahntay, can you believe how erratic this guy's career 3PT shooting percentages have been?

2007 41.7%
2008 16.7%
2009 64.7%
2010 12.5%
2011 35.9%
2012 42.9%

To be fair, looking at his shot attempt totals, he clearly is NOT a long-distance shooter. But having that range is always nice to have.
He had the most attempts last season at a solid % so hopefully, if the Knicks swap for him, Jones can prove to knock down the occasional trey along with high energy play.

Jones would be a great pickup to cap off the summer moves. He played well at SG in Denver with Melo.

He just doesnt shoot a lot of threes. He has a very reliable mid range shot, can pull up off TE dribble, can handle the ball, run the floor, and finish well around the basket. Plus, he's a solid defender. He'd be very solid off the bench.

Jones is pretty good on defense, but the guy we need should play defense and be able to lock down that corner 3. Its the role player with those 2 dimensions that seemingly is a part of every championship team.

It is true. We are his source. I have not seen Jones' name anywhere but on here between me and a few other posters discussing him just within the past week or so.

Me, too. Frank Isola wrote an article at the beginning of free agency saying he was a name the Knicks SHOULD chase. Not would. Should.

Dahntay Jones, body structure, game, stats, hops, and just something reminds me of another player....
A younger Fred Jones, ex Pacer/Knick, slam dunk participant.

He is s good team mate that knows his role is limited, accepts it, and works very hard to continue to be ready when he is called, a Duke Alumni
Dahntay Jones

I was surprised to see that he barely played vs The Heat in the playoffs.
He actually didn't look like he was able to guard Wade very well, but not many people can.
He is JJ of the guards, that can hit a wide open 3pointer.
They gave many minutes to Barbosa, who hasn't aged well, and looked DONE.

if these guys aren't available at VET MIN, Deshawn Stevenson, Delonte West

Hey, leave Tommy Dee alone... he's a good writer. I used to know him from another Knicks forum and he's good at what he says.. there's nothing true or untrue about his statement.. he's just doing the math and it makes sense to me, although I highly doubt front office is considering that option at all at this moment

If we can trade him as a salary dump to save Pacers money, we can use his salary at the deadline as a package with 2016 pick, his expiring 2.9m contract with a 150% rule can acquire a salary of 4.45m with another player , for someone better with Iman returning. He played a great back up role on Denver with Melo and JR Smith, so he is familiar with their style of play.

Maybe Brandon Rush, who I would absolutely love, he is a great role player, that is younger, bigger, stronger, longer, and could be part of our anchor in our defensive lineup of Iman, Rush, and Tyson/Camby.

Till then, Jones should see a good amount of minutes and could boost his value if he plays with our defensive lineup.

Our need to acquire multiple players to defend Deron/Joe Johnson, Wade/Lebron, and OKC is a need that WE MUST be serious about to become CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDERS.
Anthony Randolph and Anthonoy Tolliver are also 2 players that I think also are ideal to defending the elite teams/players.
