The Lin signing will seal the A.

The Camby deal:
Will miss what Jorts might have turned into (DLee + defense + 3's), will not miss TD who couldn't play, and will not miss Jerome, who never got to. 2nd rounders? Who cares.

I give him an A for keeping the team intact, and adding depth.

Losing Fields and paying high for Camby unavoidable. Gambling on Linsanity had to be done.

If we sign JJ and add another quality guard... maybe an A+

The worst part about this team is having to wait until the season starts!

I guess it depends. I mean compared to a move like DH12 it isn't so good but that wasn't in the cards. Given what he's had to work with the only other improvement wouldve been Nash. I would think its at the very least a B+ and I'd go as high as an A+. We weren't moving Amare or bringing in another superstar. I guess I'd go A- being extremely objective and that I badly wanted the Canadian.

Gave him an"A", contingent on signing Lin, completing Kidd signing and keeping Jeffries.

Word. Exactly how I see it. Camby > Jorts now and probably ever (and I really like Jorts). It is an amazing pickup and gives us the deepest roster we have ever had. 48 minutes of intimidating lane hawks? Amazing.

Once the Lin signing is done and Kidd is in the fold, I upgrade this to an "A". I am not concerned about Fields. He had potential, but his regression last season worried me. We can find a better 2 for less $ (or Smith will play well since it's essentially another contract year for him what with us getting his Bird rights).

I'm going with an A- because while I like the idea of getting Camby, I just think we paid too steep a price - but neither Jorts nor TD really seemed the same player after their respective injuries, and who knows if they ever return to form.

He gets an A because he's keeping the team intact and adding 2 veteran leaders who fill needs in Kidd and Camby. Thing that ups him to an A+ would be finding a way to add some young talent at a bargain price.

How he gets anything less than an A is beyond me, assuming he matches Lin.

Grunwald did a great job of improving the team and fulfilling every need except somebody to fill in for Shumpert half the year. Fields getting 20 million was out of his hands and he was in on Nash right until Nash chose LA. He did a great job bringing in experienced vets to back up the starting lineup and I like the job he did a lot.

Consider context: this is a gambit to try to win it all in the next three years. The Knicks have no interest in developing players right now and are instead trying to win. Douglas wasn't crackig the the rotation and as much as we like our developmental prospects, the team is trying to win. If the Knicks win a title, nobody will care if Jorts turns into Kevin Love.

In addition, centers cost a lot. Look at the market for centers and tell me Camby's contract isn't a bargain.

I think that he is having a far better off season than last year.

its a good offseason. We brought back all the key guys, and we really had big holes for a backup big and backup PG and Kidd/Camby is probably the best combo out there.

A+

Best he can do with the limited resources we had. Not his fault Amare & Melo make $20m each. Gotta hope we can pull off a Mavs type run and that winning with a big 3, 4 whatever is an abberation and depth will prevail. Unless Lebron is part of your big 3 and can will a championship

I give Grunwald a solid A. Like others mentioned, if he could add a couple younger vet mins to go along with the proven ones(Kidd/Camby), then it'll definitely bump up to A+.

A+ and I don't think twice about it. Raise your hand if you thought we'd get any decent rotation players this season. Yeah, that's what I thought.

+1

All the Knicks really need now is depth at SG. Just some stiff that can hit set 3

My Knicks grades goes as follows:

A+ = Get Nash, Camby and Foye and Resign Lin, Novak, JR and JJ
A = Get Nash, Camby and Resign Lin, Novak, JR and JJ
A- = Get Kidd, Camby and Foye and Resign Lin, Novak, JR and JJ
B+ = Get Kidd, Camby and Resign Lin, Novak, JR and JJ

If we match Fields contract you can bring down each grade a notch or two.
