We have Smith, Kidd will play some SG, and White can be solid, then Shumpert when he comes back. If we add a player like Foye, how do we fit them all in the rotation when Shumpert returns? Why not just add an undrafted rookie or minimum contract guy and really focus in on adding a quality big man. I am all of upgrading the SG, but i don't think it is a huge priority. I like our backcourt situation right now.

PG Lin, Kidd, Douglas
SG Smith, White, (Shumpert in January)

Seems like solid depth, but with Harrellson and Jeffries (if resigned) our best bigs off the bench, that should be our priority, right?

If we can lock in Smith, then we're in decent enough shape. Of the FA SGs, I don't think any of them that I can think of have as much pure talent as Smith... and even overall, I don't think any are better players. I like Nick Young's size and upside, but he's like a B-level version of Allan Houston. Big hops, killer jump shot, but not quick. Houston also had a decent enough post-up game.

Carmelo can play SG for stretches, and Landry... oh... and Bill W... ah... yeah, we could probably use more depth. This might be a different story if we knew we'd be getting the rookie version of Douglas back.

Imans looking at roughly the allstar break before he returns to full strength, god forbid if anything happens to lin or kidd, we back to being a CLUMSY team...neither one can go 35 mins a night..

If dallas agrees to take TD and Jones then I would divide that 3 mill into filling the 2 holes (sg/fwd). with a combo guard and a combo fwd..Not sure who's out there that can fit those roles for that price

Nick young is a great athlete. Plenty of explosiveness. However, he's a boneheaded streak shooter who doesn't play ANY defense.

If we deal Douglas we should just look to add a 3rd string combo guard. Scoop Jardine?

please dont mention white in any conversation...hes a corey brewer clone...lots of athletic talent but cant shoot or dribble...i never understood this signing

FYI..young just signed with philly

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

The scouting report on White is that he has become a solid spot up shooter. In addition he has always been a solid point-wing type. I just read in one of these articles that he is expected to be a rotation-quality player at this stage in his career.

Knicks definitly still need another SG.Its not even a lock Smith staysIman might not be 100% this season or ever again. I think they have to act like he isnt on the team and this year and if he gives u something great. Its not like the players wont be trade able later

Don't pass up on Redd. For the money the Knicks have to spend he would be a damn good pick.

We need a pure shooting guard that can strech the floor like the way Allan Houston was before he got hurt. We need everyone in the starting lineup who can knock down shots. If not teams will double a tripple team Anthony and Lin and won't really worry about the other players.

I agree we need shooting in the rotation. That being said, i think JR Smith has that capability more-so than most FAs on the market. He should start because of his ability to stretch the floor. Would see a huge difference starting him instead of Fields from last year.

Nothing, we'd actually get less from Redd than we do from Novak. Last year Redd played 51 out of a possible 66 games, by far the most he's played in five seasons. But in those games he only played 15 mpg while shooting 40% from the field and 31% from three.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I think we do, because Kidd cannot contribute much minutes, and he is not a penetration threat at his age.
With Iman I don't think he will be effective much till late this year at best.

Terry and JJ Barea, were both good ball handlers, that were used to break Miami's defense when they won the championship.
Miami's defense has improve much since then, but we need another guard outside of Lin, that can penetrate, hit the shot, and earn a step for the rest of our team.
I see White, playing Corey Brewer's role, but I think Terry's ability to handle the ball, and create for others is much better than JR Smiths.
I think DJO would have been able to play JJ Barea's role, it was a big mistake not to draft him.

Not sure if TD would be able to learn off Kidd, to be a better combo guard, and mentor his inability to facilitate.
But if he is traded, I think it would be great to add a player like Scott Machado to be Kidd's project with Lin.
Another cheap option would be Terrence Williams, as a G/F that can help facilitate, and learn off Kidd.

Sign JR and trade him and TD to Detroit for Rip.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
