From hoopshype:
Mikhail Prokhorov had a good day Thursday. According to the Forbes Real Time Billionaire Tracker, he made $26.37 million or almost enough to pay for Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace's salaries next season...in ONE DAY! Its that kind of wealth and the willingness to spend it that separates Prokhorov from most NBA owners ... and those who previously controlled the Nets. NetsDaily

Nope, DJ, just sharing what I read on hoopshype with the fans here.
I dislike Dolan big time, however, and I know that I share that sentiment with many here.
It's just not easy pulling for the Knicks when you have a bumbling idiot behind the curtain
running the show. I'm convinced that's why many former great posters here are no longer around.

You know, willingness to spend ****loads of money has never been Dolan's problem, it's been the ability to spend it wisely. And unless the Nets get Dwight Howard by next season the Russian isn't spending his money wisely at all.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Ive been a Knicks fan for 25 years, and will continue to be. But a team in Brooklyn run by a Russian billionaire and one of the best selling rappers of all time, against a team run by a failed blues musician who's daddy gave him something to do so he wouldnt drink anymore. Call me more than a bit tempted to consider jumping ship.

I read that if Nets get Howard they will pay over 100 million in taxes!

Im sorry to not have the details but im sure if it happens we'll see more of it.

Don't worry about KNick fans jumping ship. Few will, but Nets will have a boat load who will jump on the band wagon.

THere are millions sports fans who are not exactly filled with any warm fuzzy memories of the knicks.

In the last twenty yers both teams been to the finals twice. Both lost.

The last 10 years not exactly the hotbed of good pro basketball been played by either team.

I told some of you homers last year that the Nets will win a chip before the knicks and many of you laughed.

Before you get all bothered by that don't confuse my arrogance with my preference.

I prefer the KNicks!

But The Russian is far more intereseting then Dolan is or ever will be.

The Nets if anything are becoming interesting.

Jeez that's harsh. I did say I have been a Knick fan for 25 years, its just James Dolan has ruined the experience for the last 12. You don't agree?

Do I like Dolan? Absolutely not! But a Knick fan is a Knick fan. Period. That's how I see it. There are 29 other teams in this league. A person is free to take their pick as far as I'm concerned. The Knicks were here before Dolan and it will be here after.

Amen, brotha! Charles Dolan did a decent job and had the Knicks constantly in contention of that ring... His son (is he really his son? Somebody gotta get a paternity test on that) Jim, took over the Knicks and ran it to the ground. Knicks even had the highest salary among all teams and wasn't even close to make it to the playoff. What a shame. I've been a Knicks fan my whole almost 40 years of life and still a fan because I believe in loyalty, but having an owner with a brain size of a peanut, makes me sad to face my friends (mostly Lakers fans) whenever comes to playoff. Still a believer tho. Maybe I need to work harder and smarter and be rich enough to buy the team from him just on principle. Hopefully this coming year will be different, and maybe Jim will let his GM and president and coach and players do their work and be smart enough to know not to interfere at all, no matter how many times Isiah gives him late night friendship with benefit visits.

toodarkmark: Dolan doesn't play, doesn't coach, doesn't wear a jersey. He's not the face of the franchise. He's an extremely annoying sidebar story.

Get over it.

The Knicks are bigger than their ownership, and always will be. The Nets apparently, are not. Good for them. May they live long and prosper in Brooklyn. They have a garbled history, no chips, and one shining moment when a HOF PG triple double machine led them singlehandedly to the Finals for a few years while we were wallowing in the downside debacle of the Ewing era's sad demise.

I collected my 69 and 73 championship cards and thought with enough running and practice and tanning, I could somehow become Clyde and Bradley combined. I suffered through McAdon't and Hey!deadwood and Louie OrrElse and Ken the Bannister Animal. I ran errands for Mike Saunders and Eddie Donovan when the Knicks held training camp at Monmouth U. I wore the NYK practice shorts they gave me until they fell apart. I watched the Debusschere clip of winning the Ewing lottery 15 times a day for at least a month straight. I suffered through Charles 4 strikes yer out Smith. I watched the Starks Dunk in your Airness' face until the tape wore out. I watched LJ and that magic backbreaking 4 pointer against the Pacers. I grated my teeth watching Houston disappear in games while Spree played out of position. I stared unbelievingly as they traded Ewing away for nothing. I thought Marbury coming home would be a great thing. I still think Melo being home is.

The Knicks and MSG. The Nets and the Barclays Center. I really don't understand the comparison, but hey, is what makes America great country, no?

Yep. This was making America great country… before corporate culture destroyed American Dream.
It is not a problem to make 26 million per day; it is a problem to waste them on baggers and corporate cronies, corrupt politicians and stupid populist ideas.
And Knicks is Jimmy toy-team as much as Nets is Proko toy-team. We must like what they like... otherwise it is not worth the aggravation.

So you're okay with people making lots of money, as long as they spend it the way you want them to. Holy elitist socialism, Batman!

Yes, America sure is a great country. Open to all types of incredible opinions.

What the owners do in the off time is a selling point to your being a fan......OK.

I put part of your message in bold text because, you obviously don't understand alcoholism. And it all it takes is a blues band he can well afford to stay off the sauce, that is a good thing. Not something you should be using as a negative. Who is he hurting playing the blues, just don't go see his shows.

Knicks board, where insensitivity lives. Knicks board, where everyone else players are awesome but ours, except for when the get traded or leave. Then they become awesome.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Glad to see some long time fans here as well.

I too am at this about 40 years with the knicks and Clyde was my hero! I should have followed Bradley as a role model and hit the books a little harder as well!

Our memories and hero's can never be taken away from us no matter what.

Some will choose sides and stick to them. Some will be NEW YORK FANS and root for the local team that goes the furthest. I always want the Yanks to beat the Mets but if the mets go to the world series against anyone but the yanks im rooting for NY!

Since the KNicks trade all the yoots I have no attachement to the stars we bring in and I suppose the same could be said for the Nets but that makes them very similar. Both are Starphuching. I rooted hard for the Gallo led knicks not just because it was the knicks but you get attached and root for the success of yoots. I respected Melo but was never a "fan' of his. Same for Amare and Tyson. Same for Deron, Joe Johnson and Dwight. They are other teams players.

Its not like Clyde, Willis and Bradley. Those were our guys! Debussure and Earl came in trades and in time blended in great.

Ewing was our guy and I hated all the Starphuch attempts. Doc Rivers, Harper, Vandewigh, etc were not "our GUYS". Mase and Starks were knuckle heads but they were "Our Guys". Larry Johnson earned his stripes with his effort and grit as did oak but it takes time. Spree was a cast off and we embraced him becasue of his intensity on and off the court.

Now we get a guy like melo its "good riddence" to "our guys" and we suppose to bow down the the new starphuch and love him? Thats not so easy for me. They have to earn their way in. Not just smile.

Im approaching 20k posts here soon and this december will be on the UK 9 years. Thats about 6.4 posts a day average. I can't say I love the "gun for hire" approach that is in Miami and in NY. Lakers getting 18 year old Kobe and Bynum and keeping them goes a long way for Laker fans to stay with the team. Knicks have not had a home grown player of note since Ewing that can be called a "Career player" and an allstar.

A guy like H20 can become a favorite but it takes a few years and memories created.

So in a way the Nets are Knicks now and the first one to win a championship will own the city.

But The Nets will own Europe as well. The Russian thinks big. Lin is a god send for Dolan but the problem is the Nets will be marketed as a team in europe where Lin is the draw in Asia. If he pans out the knicks can become "asias" team. But if not, Knick interest will subside.

There will be at least 4 "Must see" games now in NY! That is something to look forward to!

It's just not easy pulling for the Knicks when you have a bumbling idiot behind the curtain
running the show. I'm convinced that's why many former great posters here are no longer around.

Goodbye.

The Knicks were here before Dolan and it will be here after.

toodarkmark: Dolan doesn't play, doesn't coach, doesn't wear a jersey.

Glad to see some long time fans here as well.

I too am at this about 40 years with the knicks and Clyde was my hero! I should have followed Bradley as a role model and hit the books a little harder as well!

I've never understood the geographical location fandom thing. If you're a true Yankees fan, do you ever really give a crap about the Mets? Even when they were beating the Red Sox, who gave a crap? Same for the Giants and Jets. When the Nets went to the Finals, how and why would you care, minus some lurking love for the old ABA franchise and the Dr J manlove we all suffer from? I could blandly follow the Sixers out of boredom when AI was in his prime, possibly, but the third-world, second-rate rhyming franchises? It's like you're a lifelong conservative but you'd maybe vote for the liberal because he's from your area? I just don't get it.

Oh well, to each their own.

The Melo hate I just don't get. He plays his azz off that first half a season, when it was apparent to anyone who could read a stat sheet that our MVP Starphuch I was broken down long before we traded away "our guys" [read: potential trade fodder/Chinese league superstar]. He's in the playoffs with NOBODY. Loses the last game against the hated Celts hoping Fishlips could convert a layup, instead of taking the last shot himself and possibly missing a finger roll [sound familiar?]. Then we've got a freak short season and again he's up against it with next to no one at the end. We win a game against another hated rival. He takes over at times and hits shots when they matter. What more do you want him to do? Become defensive player of the year? Lead the league in assists? Make Stat a better, more well-adjusted human being? Does not being Marbles redux not count for anything?

How do the Nets have a "their guy"? Deron's a starphuch. DHow will be the biggest starphuch since Miami. The Nets haven't had a "their guy" since Kenny Anderson and Buck Williams and Truck Robinson. Loved the Petro story, by the way.

I do agree, it will be a fun matchup going forward, provided all these starphucques in both boroughs stay healthy. Deron's going to continue to gun for Lin. Joe Johnson never scared me, but lets wait and see; I would maintain in the face of all haters that I'd rather have Melo. DHow is everyone's monster, but will we get to watch Tyson become our Bill Russell to his Wilt?

One question to the Starphucque master: Does Lin qualify as "our guy"?

One question to the Starphucque master: Does Lin qualify as "our guy"?

Never said Nets had "their guy"........

You choose to love Melo as soon as he don's the orange and blue. Thats cool. Not me. He gotta earn it. You don't read any Melo hate from me, just no love yet. I like the guy. He is growing on me. But we don't have a "moment" yet.

Lin is "our guy". Its why I was sad to see MDA go. We had our "moment" It was linsanity.

Lin was off the bench and a "Star was born". Yeah, he is our guy. Im a big Shump fan. He is our guy. Gallo, Shy Wilson, and MOzgov were "our guy's". Lando also. Hate to see him leave. Andy Rautins as well. Andy won't be missed, but I root for "our guys".

Nets if they get Howard will have pulled off the "Starphuchs of all Starphuch" no doubt. Sixers with DR J I did not root for. I preferred them over the Celts but never over the KNicks.

If the BROOKLYN Nets defeat the Miami Heat to get into the finals I could not root against that. Or Boston. OR ATL. OR DC.
Nets vs. Lakers? IM not rooting for Lakers, or CLipps, Or OKC, or spurs........Etc.

KNicks Vs. Nets. Knicks always.

This is mind-boggling
