Can't beleive the Dutc got beat by the Danes. They played badly. I thought Gemany -Portugal was close and Portugal could have easily won if they had converted a couple of gimmes.

Portugal could be the dark horse. The Dutch losing was a shock. They have to beat Germany and Portugal to make it and I doubt that's happening.

Wouldn't write off Holland yet. Four points might be enough, depending on how other results go.

Our coach (Denmark) said we'd win the cup if we advance our group.. It's blasphemy that four teams ranked in the top 10 of the whole world are grouped together, i.e. Denmark, Germany, Holland, Portugal

Denmark is not top 10 in the world.

I think his point was that the FIFA rankings are inaccurate if they have Denmark as a top 10 side.

sorry I couldnt tell that from looking at "Denmark is not top 10 in the world", I know we're not litterally top 10, but the list doesn't get much more official and I think it holds some merit. Just saying.

Fifa has Uruguay #2 in the world.

I can't take their rankings seriously.

In my well thought out, fully researched and balanced opinion, soccer sucks. In spades.

IF you're a baseball fan saying this then your credibility is lost.

Your statement would be valid providing your argument explaining how baseball is related to any soccer-related activies, like hockey, lacrosse, etc has any credibility whatsoever.

I suppose liking NFL football would also damage my credibility as well?

And you provided what exactly? All you did was say soccer sucks, for what I assume is "it's boring". It's not more boring than baseball.

I stated my opinion, which is: soccer sucks. You then retort about baseball, offering some assumption about boredom.

Logically, you would try to explain why soccer doesn't suck. For example:
1) It's not always painfully low scoring.
2) It involves eye-foot coordination and lots of random running in all directions.
3) Soccer goalies really are incredible atheletes, despite standing still for what would appear to be at least an hour at a stretch.
4) It doesn't always involve crowd deaths and riots.
5) Only a very few soccer players make the worst of NBA floppers look like amateur night at your local elementary school drama club.
6) It really is the greatest sport in the world, because everyone on earth plays it at a competitive level, including 5 year olds.
7) Anything that the third world holds dear to the point of insanity has to be great.
8) Not all soccer matches make those stupid, insipid, neverending noises.

etc, etc.

And in the spirit of intelligence, I will ignore Silverfuel.

Too bad Vela scored that last goal against us yesterday, now the 2. place is up for grabs. If Holland beats Portugal, then the 2nd place will be decided on the +/- score of goals. That could get real interesting. Germany is already advancing, so they might go easy on us in the last game (hopefully )..

jrod, no need for you to join in on the thread if you don't like football. It's not only about scoring by the way. And the goals scored creates more excitement than a single basket in bball. Also, you can't fault a sport for being popular in a third world country. If anything, you should admire that football is being spread to the development countries. A lot of clubs open football schools in Africa fx.
