The Nets are considered the frontrunner, but "it is not going to be a one-horse race,” the source said. The Mavericks and Knicks are also in the conversation, while the Lakers and Clippers are as well to a lesser extent.

The team that is able and willing to take back the contract of Hedo Turkoglu is likely to have an edge in trading for Howard

the salaries of Stat/Chandler still match up

Unless Donnie Walsh gets the GM job, then the Knicks might have a chance LOL.

Knicks have a chance if they take Howard off the cutting board. No physical needed and we'll take Hedo.

We'll even throw in Fields for Duhon.....

I don't even see why the Lakers should discuss trades for stars. We know the league will just veto anyway. Why bother?

As for the Knicks, I guess we'll see.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I see the Lakers trading Gasol for multiple pieces.

Minnesota wanted him.

Beasley, Randolph, and Wesley Johnson/Wayne Ellington for Gasol?

Never know what a team is willing to give up for a allstar big.

The league was only able to veto the Chris Paul trade because the owned the Hornets, Chandler and Amare for Howard and Turkulou get it done!

Why do people call it a "veto". Stern was the owner of the hornets. No GM makes any basketball moves without finalizing it with the team owner first. This "veto" thing is just BS made up by writers to create stories. The only way it could have been a veto is if it was submitted to the NBA offices. Why would Stern submit a trade he did not want to do only to veto is later?

I can't find Wojo's article on the subject but this is the quote that people so upset.

The owners half-pushed this, and Stern took it the rest of the way. In the end, David didn’t like that the players were dictating where they wanted to go, like Carmelo had, and he wasn’t going to let Chris Paul dictate where he wanted to go.
I think Wojo is connected and reliable. I think this was at least part of the logic behind voiding.

One name: Antonio McDyess.

Camby was a question mark for us physically when we traded him for McDone who had just gotten off the operating table and look at how that turned out. I don't know what the odds are for coming back from back surgery but I bet they aren't great.

Do we want to roll the dice like that again? I mean we are all in and that would put us over the top. I am assuming we would get Howard signed to an extension too - otherwise on a 1 year I might do it because we can cut our losses, but do the $$$ work?

Amare is breaking down. Remember he started the season playing like pure trash.

We dump Amare and Chandler and get back the best center in the NBA.

tyson and amar'e for dwight and turkyglu makes the knicks a better team, though i don't know if i like it. and their new-found commitment to continuity means it probably won't happen. but dwight and melo and lin and shump would be a team that could seriously rival the heat and bulls. luckily it won't happen so my conscience can stay clear.

Amare for Dwight. Although I don't think this is going to solve anything for Knicks. Dwight is creating a bad reputation for himself = could be bad news for the team if he gets here. I predict a worse ego clash, worse than Melo-Amare.

Oh God. Dwight Howard and Melo on the same team = Natural Disaster waiting to strike New York. It will be like Kobe/Shaq all over again.

I think you need to take these situations case by case.

It's like when the Mets failed to sign to Valdimere Gurrerio because he was coming off a back injury. Instead of looking at the fact that with his injury in 394 at-bats, he still hit for .330 with 25 HRs and 79 RBIs. But all the Mets could remember is the chance they took on Mo Vaughn, a guy who had many injuries and missed an entire season before they traded for him.

Vald won an Mvp a year later and Mo retired a year later. Taking a bad gamble on 1 player shouldn't keep us taking a good gamble on another.

Mcdyess played in 10 games the year before we traded for him. Dwight was on the way to winning another DPOY, 20 point and 12 reb season after paying in 75% of the games this season. I think it's two completely different situations.

Hopefully because Kobe and Shaq won 3 rings together btw.

D Howard? We already have a Center that just so happened to win defensive player of the year. Why does D Howard bring to the table that Chandler doesn't?

Did anyone happen to watch the Magic/Knicks games this year? Chandler made Howard his biatch.

Chandler also disappeared vs Miami and has no offensive game what so ever and hands of stone. If it's not a lob he can't do anything.Howard is a 3 time defensive player of I believe a a better shot blocker, rebounder and post presence. With Melo next to him that would be an awesome 1-2 punch.
