Wait a minute- didn't we all love Melo a couple of weeks ago? Now we're back to complaining about the Denver trade again?! (I didn't want to do that trade, but it was over a year ago! It's time to move on!). I agree about the PG thing though- we needed a back up PG much more than Dan Gazuric.
I know you're normally optimistic, Nixluve, and this is an absolute stinker of a series so no wonder you're frustrated, but the truth is the only things to blame for this debacle are: overly high expectations, bad luck and injuries. Look at the state of our roster:
Amar'e- probably still rusty from the 3 week absence, back issues, out with ridiculous hand injury
Tyson- was ill will flu the first game (thats when you knew the basketball gods didn't like us)
Shump- torn ACL (thanks basketball gods)
BD- aggrivates back injury first game
Bibby- past it
Lin- out with knee
JJ- basically done, needs surgery but refuses to have it until playoffs are over
That's half the damn roster- even at full strength we'd struggle against the Heat. But we're not even at half strength which is why we're looking like a d league team. The coach really didn't have any choice but to pray Melo could carry the team- Fields, Jorts, Jerome Jordan just aren't ready confidence wise to do anything in the playoffs, Novak can't get open and JR Smith is to inconsistent.
We only had a healthy team under Woodson for about 6 or 7 games, and we looked great (even with melo struggling). Since then the team has kept changing due to injuries, so we've had no chance to develop a set, consistant system. So even though it feels bleak now, there is hope for next season, it's not all doom and gloom.
