lets not remind ourselves about the Bynum pick vs Channing Frye, of course Briggs too.
He picked out a no brainer and need for us and if it wasn't for his multiple knee injuries, he would have been the best center or 2nd out there with Howard.
He is much more skilled and DH is much more physically talented....
This is one of the greatest mistakes we have made.
Channing Frye looks like he has shown he is a good/decent player in the development with Nash and the Suns but he isn't anywhere near Bynum...
Jordan Hill was a complete bonus for the Lakers, giving up virtually nothing for him.
Acquiring Sessions, another player Briggs has interest in for many years since his Bucks days, has developed a nice 3point shot to go with his ability to penetrate.
They just gave up 1 1st round pick with a bad salary dump of Luke Walton (2 years this year 5.84m next year 6.1m) and Kapano.
He is very under rated and improved the Lakers with a nice backup PF/C in Hill.
They were very fortunate to find a taker in Odom, acquiring salary and a 1st round pick, flipping it in to players that make a true championship contender for NOTHING.
The Lakers always seem to find great deals for themselves, while all the GMs want to rip us off 98% of the time.
Back to the topic, Spurs have developed nice young players and is the deepest team in the League.
Poppavich is one of the greatest coaches of all time and is great at developing youth players.
It helps that they always draft nice young players to go along with great team guys to go with their physical skills.
They cut Novak because they have players that can shoot and have at least 1 other skill.
With Tiago Splitter hurt, their weakest position would be a backup Center but he is a very solid player and can start for many teams.
Lakers can give them problems with Bynum and Gasol, but the Spurs have developed in to a good defensive team, with a good offense.
Leanard will and can give Kobe/Durant/Lebron/Wade and almost anybody trouble with his defense...
They can all shoot their lights out, play good defense, have great penetration, have great size/length/athleticism, post options, and TEAM WORK.
Poppavich has sat out Duncan, Ginoboli, and Parker many games.
He developed these players in these past 2 years, instilled confidence in them, using games this year as PRACTICE, and developed a role for every player and a TEAM identity.
From the first unit to their 2nd/3rd, they all know their roles, and have great team chemistry, to go with the versatility.
DEEPEST TEAM in the League
Solid players, with All stars, and share the ball very well, can penetrate, and hit the 3point shot, while being at least a decent defender.
Parker *one of the most under rated PGs of the year*
Green *struggled to find a contract but has developed in to a great shooter with great size and versatility *capable of playing the PG, SG, SF*
Kawhi Leonard *very versatile player with skills of a SG, GREAT LOCKDOWN DEFENDER, can play SG-PF, and is very coachable*
Blaire *undersized but a great player with Duncan and Leanard making up some of that size*
Duncan *still has plenty of game in him*
Ginobili *one of candidates 6th man of the years EVERY YEAR*
Gary Neil *takes some bad shots but can catch fire and can penetrate*
Splitter *great player that can play PF/C, playing on both ends*
Stephan Jackson *the team that has helped them win a championship, while he first struggled in the NBA finding a team, and his been a top 1-3 option since leaving*
Boris Diaw *very versatile and adds even more to depth*
Bonner *dont have to over pay for a shooter that has the size to hit a 3point shot*

Patrick Mills
James Anderson
Cory Joseph
Ike Diogu
these are some solid players that can't even crack the rotation, that is already 10+ deep
