An Honorable Mention

It's a considerable honor for a player who already has a championship under his substantial belt. And for the Knicks, it's increasingly rare. The Knicks, perhaps because they've been so terrible for so long, do not have a storied history of individual awards. Here are all the NBA awards they've won in the last 40 years, not counting the Citizenship Award (won by Mike Glenn and Rory Sparrow), because come on:

1985–86: Patrick Ewing, Rookie of the Year
1992–93: Pat Riley, Coach of the Year
1994–95: Anthony Mason, Sixth Man of the Year
1996–07: John Starks, Sixth Man of the Year
2011–12: Tyson Chandler, Defensive Player of the Year

So, no matter what, this "era" will be remembered for something. And it might have nothing to do with Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, or Jeremy Lin. (Though Lin is one of the top candidates for Most Improved Player, announced later this week.) Tyson Chandler has stood outside the ridiculousness of this team and this franchise all season. It is no surprise that, when it came to awards, he stood above it.

- Will Leitch

Tyson Chandler is the Captain, our leader. We may have fond memories of Linsanity, (The Answer Man still gets misty when he watches the clips from the Nets game) but the franchise is on solid ground with Chandler as the foundation.

Without him, we are nowhere.

Without Tyson, I think we would have gone about 27-39.

You're probably being sarcastic but you're right. If this organization is going to do genuine rebuilding with the goal being to become a title contender, then Tyson will be too old by the time we get there anyway. Or we can keep everything intact and be a poor man's Atlanta Hawks.

Ridiculous

Package our heart and soul, along with the most popular Knicks player in the history of the franchise, for the unknown?

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Remove the superficial captain titles from Anthony AND Stoudemire and give Tyson Chandler a "C" patch for his jersey.

Hold on to value.

Best signing of our Knicks lifetime. Tyson represents everything we loved and missed of our previous solid teams of the 90's: intensity, passion and willingness to do everything in your power to stop the other team, help your own team and never giving up because you carry inside yourself the heart of a champion. Tyson is maybe one of the few players we have that is so solid, consistent, hardworker and centered on whats so important, that still seems weird and amazing that he is on the Knicks, a team that unfortunately has been known lately for being a circus full of clowns.

Cheers for Tyson, the best signing we've had in ohh so many difficult years lets just sip to our imaginary champagne and get fake drunk. (Bonus to anyone that actually gets drunk on this great achievement).

LMAO I thought it was an Internet joke, not his actual words. Sad thing is, most people were rather shocked that he spoke the truth than laughing at the "joke". Hahahahaha Ty is really the best!
