I would kill for Ersan Ilyasova. Is there any trade the Knicks could make with Fields to get that guy???

I listened to the Bucks pod cast after we played them and they played the Pacers/Sixers, they don't seem to happy to give him a big contract because he is a guy who guys his rebounds in space. He doesn't rebound well when he has to play down low though. But that is the kind of 4 we need, a guy the can come from the three point line and get rebounds.

We would kill with his rebounding and three point shooting in between Chandler and Melo.

Fill in the blanks to improve the team.

1) Pray Ahmad Nivins can be a good, athletic backup PF (7th man), and Giorgos Printezis is a capable of contributing right away at the SF spot.

2) Pray Novak re-signs (spot 7 or 9)

3) erm... do we have a second round pick this year?

4) Sign an Anthony Carter type 3rd string PG

5) re-sign BD

Man, this is going to be tough. On top of our lack of maneuvarability, we also need a lot of luck with the players we have:

Pray Lin was not just a mirage, pray Shump returns with no loss to his game, pray TD regains what he lost this season (need him to replace JR Smith), pray Amar'e gets his back sorted once and for all- not good for a team that has bad luck most of the time.

correct. He'll be good to go by Xmas, and full to health and in rotation by Feb/Mar.

yes im thinking after the allstar break for Shump maybe even January. I don't think it will be like Azubuike and his patella tendon which required 2yrs to get back and will never be the same player. Question is will he ever regain his lateral quickness which along with his quick hands is what makes him a lockdown perimeter defender. Hopefully he can improve his shot to offset that a bit

Grunwald has his work cut out this offseason. If he can find a way to trade Amare he will forever be revered

I dont think trading a good player like amare is an answer--moving him into a 6th man position at this stage of his career where he can do 17-7 off the bench is the answer imho.

They should move him to 6th man since we wont get any value for him. He can get his 15 pts off the bench. Find a solid SF like ariza or dorell wright or even look into starting novak next year so we can get off to hot starts. My favorite lineup this season was chandler, melo, novak, shumpert, and lin. It offers great balance.

Don't think we can get anything close to fair value for Amare at this point, maybe towards the end of his contract or we can victimize the Bobcats who will never get a star to sign there. Only problem is I hate everyone on the bobcats roster.

Methinks Briggs has it right. Amare should be a starter in name but play the majority of his minutes with both Chandler and Melo off the floor. If he can get going without those two on the floor then it gives Melo time to rest his legs so he doesn't run out of gas in crunch time.

Novak will probably get a 3 year 12mm contract from someone. My problem with Novak is you can clearly see in this series that quick defenders make him less effective. Hes a good player with a great skill that spaces the floor but I think in terms of cash he will not fit.
We are probably looking at older vets like Jamison(just an example) who may take 1.25mm to play here for a possible winner. It would be nice if JR took the mid level and Jeremy took the 2.5 with an opt out after next year---than we could sign a couple of vets for the 1mm who would like to play for a team that can do damage in the playoffs.

Melo draws doubles and he missed Novak, as did JR, on MANY occasions last night - 2nd half. Outside of that Lin gets it to Novak well with his penetration and unselfish play. I wish Melo would go back to his April play -he was passing great.

We might be able to resign Novak -there is a chance and if not we can still get a good 3pt shooter who plays better D, but I luv Novak here.

I know it was just an example but Jamison would be a great signing for the Knicks. He always lights up the Knicks and gives Melo trouble. He is aging gracefully.
