This guy was canned for not making adjustments in the playoffs, Our defense looked just as bad as MDA, and @ some points worse..

I'm not bashing him cause of the lost (then again..yes i am) but I recall watching the hawks in the playoffs, never making adjustments..or just not enough.

He was guilty of riding ISO's to death..PPL wanted to give him the extension as soon as the season was done..And I kept saying, lets see what he does in the playoffs where's been an utter failure.

This maybe the one MOVE where I agreed with DOLAN

Team lives and dies by Melo. Heat know this.

No having Shumpert is really hurting our perimeter defense.

the stars would have to align for the knicks to beat the heat once. anyone who thought they'd beat the heat more than once is silly.

losing shump makes beating the heat even one time a talllll order.

and, yes, the refs are gonna make darn sure the heat get as close to the finals as possible.

I don't think anything hurt our defense more than having Amare back.

also, playing the heat hurt the defense.

amar'e didn't play when the knicks lost to the heat at the garden a few sundays back. heat are just a better team and a tough matchup for this knicks squad. they have the best player in the league in lebron and wade is still great and bosh is good and they defend really well.

The Knicks played well enough to win that game. They did not tonight.

Are you defending Amare? I respect your opinion but I don't really see how anyone who watched this game and his (no)defense can defend him.

you maybe right, but you have to something different and i thought leaving TD (cant' believe im saying this) and Jorts on the bench..the heat are scrambling like crazy getting out on novak after the double..

We played just as BAD with shump in the line up, so there's no big lost with him out

Woodson made adjustments on the offensive end in this game. More cross-court/misdirections by Melo on the perimeter, PNR with Melo and Stat, also saw Tyson out high to clear the paint in a high-low formation. With that siad, did anybody really think his streak of never losing 2 in row would continue when we had to play the Heat in two road games in the playoffs.

We are all ultimateknick fans here and we all view games from the Knick perspective, but sometimes we have to acknowledge the other team. We've improved tremendously since Woodson took over, but the Heat are just a flat-out better team than we are. As much as we have improved defensively under Woodson, the Heat are still better on the defensive end, they are better offensively mainly because they have better playmakers than we do, which ultimately helps thier bench play better than ours on both ends of the floor, and give Coach Spo some credit, he's out coaching our coach right now. He found a weakness in our defense abd is exploiting it. Stat is slow or unsure on his rotations and they are taking advantage of that by swinging the ball around the horn to Stats side for open jumpers. Also, he is doing a good job of crowding Novak and forcing him to put the ball on the floor.

Could we have helped ourselves? Absolutely! Our defensive rotations been better but either way, we would still be coming back to NY down 2-0.

Great thread title!

Obviously if Jax wants the job he gets it but I don't mind bringing Woodson back with a full training camp and Amare off the team so we can go ack to playing team defense. No way they bring in Calipari that would just be stupid!

i'm not defending amar'e - but i do think he made the offense better.

without amar'e tonight, they lose maybe 88-78. melo would have an impossible time doing anything against the heat without the threat of amar'e.

This is just a really tough situation. Not having Lin basically takes a HUGE weapon away from the team. Then you have a sick Tyson, hurt Jared, old Baron n Bibby and Shump is gone!!! The Heat are just doing what they usually do, but the KNicks haven't been playing like they did today every game. We've now vacillated between heavy ISO ball in game one to now trying to play Team Ball in game two and they didn't really execute on a high level. I blame that on Woody not having them consistently playing more team oriented over the last month. You can't just turn it on in the playoffs and expect perfection.

I do think that if they stick with it, they'll get better and perhaps at home our role players will play with renewed energy. They've got to be more disciplined with moving and sharing the ball. It still sticks with certain players like JR, Baron and Melo and they handle the ball a lot.

Nice regular season run, but I'll take a tall order of P. Jackson and some guard depth please.

it's the same bull sht he did aginst the celts when he coached..ISO Joe, ISO Crawford, ISO Josh Smith..

LBJ said after the first game "We knew everything they were running"..I never hear any player or coach said that about MDA..

I just really need to see this series go atleast 7 before woodson even sniffs an extension..

Shit Even Isiah got us to the playoffs..wip-dee-doo..

I guess Woodson needs an assistant to run the offense.

Do people watch the games really. DO they see how when Melo is used as a screener to help the others the offense goes into the crapper. There was a lot of motion and some PnR with Melo and STAT but when you go with Davis or Bibby as a point you have to get lucky. I give Davis credit because he is pulling tricks out the hat but sometimes there are some dead pigeons coming out of the hat possession after possession. Bibby is doing his best and trying to play mistake free ball which is good but he can not turn the corner and rarely makes his open shots.

Does Woodson needs to get better? Yes. I would have liked to see some high horn sets with Melo and STaT when Chandler is out.

Woodson is a mediocre at best coach.

There's a reason he was fired in Atlanta. Two straight playoff sweeps as pathetic as a head coach. We should probably make that three now.
