There is seriously no comparison to be made. I may have liked Gallo when he was here but I can see that obviously Melo is the better player and a better fit for this team. he's turning into a true leader that is calm and collected under pressure situations, he won't miss a wide open layup that could give you a chance to tie or win a game. he's the type of player that will nail two tightly contested 3 pointers to win a game in overtime for you over the #1 team in the league. He's the type of player that can average over 30 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 or 4 apg, and play good defense at the same time when he's tuned into the game.

he's the type of player that would play through injuries to help his team if they seriously need him to or simply be unselfish enough to let another rising star carry the reins while he heals. he also makes himself look bad if it meant getting rid of pieces that aren't going to help the team in the long run...that last bit may sound bad on his behalf, but let's face it, getting rid of 'that guy' has led to good things.

so, can we stop putting Melo and Gallo in the same comparisons? NY is going to be very successful in the future

They're probably back on page 3 or 4 by now. If you care to visit.

Burying opponents, triple doubles and carrying your team has a way of doing that.

Also, please make sure you visit the Follow Gallo's Career thread in the NBA forum...

Obviously this goes back to the trade comparisons, and most of the anti-melo people are very quiet these days. Knicks are a great team, and glad to see Melo leading the way we thought he could. This is why you need stars to win, and this is why Melo is a star.

We are a great team? Please! We are playing well at the moment but far from a great team. We are supposed to be a great franchise. We are likely out in round 1 of the playoffs again this year. So until the trade produces actual results it's a wash.

This year we had many bad injuries so whatever happens thats needs to be remembered. Next year we will have a potential fearsome backcourt in lin and shump. We have one of not the ebst defensive centers in the NBA. Melo and Amare if healthy will do their thing

LMFAO ok there. we would've lost against Chicago, Boston, those 2 Indiana games because Gallo would've been on IR. Felton? with Portland and playing horribly. Mozgov? has he played for Denver much? (really, I haven't kept up with him) how are we not a great team? we're beating top 4 teams and giving elite teams a hard time. completely blowing out teams that we're supposed to. 103-65 wasn't even our most lopsided victory this year. yes, there's room for improvement of course but we're clearly on the right side of teams being good compared to our years past

Not really. We'll have the exact team that people were ecstatic about at the start of the season. Baron and Douglas will be available at PG, Landry, Melo, and Amare will finish the starting lineup. Yeah, Amare may only be 75% but every team has one hurt starter. Anyone who thought this was a .700 team at the start of the season should be ecstatic about the roster going into the playoffs.

I don't think he ever said his construction of the team would have had those players. You are making ass-umptions.

Yep I was estatic to start the reason and now im estatic going into the playoffs. However I thought dantoni would do a great job coaching the team and getting the most out of his star players. I was dead wrong there. Actually right now im not estatic. Im euphoric

I think the mods would say that it is perfectly acceptable to compare Melo to Gallo as they are both basketball players, whereas it does not make sense to compare Melo to D'Antoni because one is a basketball player and the other is a coach.
