Lin is a big piece to the puzzle when he gets back but its laughable when I think back to people arguing that the offense should have been run through Lin and not Melo.
You need a good PG like Lin to make Offensive scrubs like Fields, Jefferies, Novack, Chandler and to some degree Shumpert better scorers. Melo does a good job trying to get the players involved while at the sametime knowing that he has to put up big numbers because his teammates are inconsistent. Having a PG make these players a little more consistent. This Miami game was a little bit of a reality check.
We absolutely need a pg. Not arguing that. We were playing well when Lin, Stat, Melo played together after Woody tweaked the offense a bit. Woody made sure Melo touched the ball, on the elbow and in the post at least once every 2-3 trips down the floor which is a must for any star player on any team. Melo can make some nice passes but he's a pure scorer, so we definitley need a pg like Lin to help the other role players get open looks off of penetrations.
I just disagreed with the idea that we were going to use Lin like Nash and have Melo hang out by the 3 point line like Q Rich.
