Maybe now we can stop riding Stat so hard as far as his supposed vulnerabilities. If it can happen to Superman, it can happen to anyone. And Stat takes good care of his body.

Wow. Maybe signing that 1 year extension turned out to be a good thing for Dwight.

I've been there, had that, so I can't be happy about it happening to him... but I am looking forward to seeing the Knicks scooping up that 6 spot.

I'm still overjoyed that the Nets didn't get Dwight, because I don't want to see those chumps get anyone significant. Even with a bad back, Dwight's still a marketable player. Let him stay in Orlando and recuperate while watching the Magic drop in playoff seeding. Knicks have the tiebreaker on them, too.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

He might as well extend all the way with Orlando now. I hope he does.

According to the story:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/magics-dwight-howard-again-back-163945312--nba.html;_ylt=AkIfnLDoYBoJUbLoAMGMYkq8vLYF

it only seems to have been spotted when he went for a second opinion in LA- up until then, the Magic were saying there was no structural damage. So either he's lying about it or the Magic medical staff are atrocious. I think probably the latter. The timing of it is weird though- started flaring up when all the SVG stuff was happening.

I find it odd that herniated disc would be missed by the team medical staff. That's beyond ridiculous.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I was thinking we needed to win 6 of last 7 to move up to 6th seed. Without Dwight, the Magic are worse than mediocre. It's possible they collapse and only take 2 of their last 7, in which case we need 5 of 7, which I could easily see happening. Still would have to say the odds are against us moving up, but it's no longer a total longshot. If we can beat Miami, things will get very interesting.

Is herniated disc the new "resting for a run in the playoffs" injury or are these legit? I hope its resting for Stat/Howard because they should both have some good years left in the tank.

I would lean towards Amare having the real deal injury and Dwight resting or throwing some kind of tantrum about Van Gundy.

Medical staff don't miss bulging disc.

This is either shutting down because of gundy or for playoffs.

It's a false flag operation!

LOL at Howard pulling a Vince Carter. Dude is trying to force his way to the Nets.

LOL at the doctors missing a HERNIATED DISC.

Perfect excuse for Howard they cant prove his back isn't hurting.

Shutting Dwight down for playoffs is a terrible idea from an organizational standpoint. Falling to a 7 can potentially cost millions.

Now if the Knicks are threatening to usurp the 6 and Dwight is suddenly cleared to play, then I would agree w/false flag.

Orlando isnt shutting Dwight down. They dont need to create phantom injures to sit him.

Dwight Howard is shutting Dwight down.

Amare's bad back is worse because in order to minimize injury risk he gained weight by adding muscle. Sadly Amare at the higher weight is nowhere near worth 20 million per year.

Howard can add weight and still be effective because he doesn't rely on speed.
