Papabear Says

There is no doubt in my mind that Melo is the best player to wear a Knicks uniform since Ewing. He is strong and can create his own shot, rebound and do many other things. If push came a shove and there was a choice you had to make between Melo and Lin who would you choose?? If you say Lin after only 11 games under his belt you are a fool. I know one thing when Lin comes back and Melo demands the ball, Lin must deliver the ball where long gon

As a PF, Melo has played like a superstar. Tyson Chandler is the best Knick since Ewing though.

Always with the backhanded compliments. You remind me of Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory.

No, it was still a compliment. Melo has been an outstanding PF - better than I ever expected him to be at the position. Tyson's earned this title for his play all year though.

And I'm not as intelligent as Sheldon. I'd like to think I have a little more social insight though!

He's still a small forward. Deng and Taj Gibson are around his size. Boozer is actually shorter but just girthier than Melo.

If you look at every 5th letter of Bonn's posts, convert it to Latin and then Hebrew, it spells out "I hate the Melo"

He has the size to play either position but his skill set gives him a better advantage at PF.

So this recent scoring frenzy is due to him playing Power Forward, not because of necessity with over 33 points missing from the lineup (Amare/Lin)? How about when he poured in 36 pts against Josh Smith, athletic as they come wingspan like an eagle, having an All Star year(got snubbed in favor of Rondo) and probably one of the best defenders at the PF position? Does Melo have a distinct advantage there?

I agree with Bonn about his flourishing in the PF spot.

At the 4, he's a match-up nightmare. He's quicker than virtually all other power forwards and can get his shot at will. Plus he's always been a solid rebounder, so if he can board over his man, that's a big advantage, too. Also, I think his average-to-okay D is more effective when deployed against other 4's.

How this all sorts out when STAT gets back is anyone's guess, though.

no doubt that melo earned his paycheck this game. but the best player since Ewing?! Melo's been a knick for a little over a year dude. Let's see if melo can get past the 1st round of the playoffs in the coming yrs before we start making statements like this.

Ewing didn't have a Chandler or STAT and he took the knicks to the finals. Need i remind you that Melo couldn't get past the first rd in 7 out of 8 yrs.

He didn't have the stats, but lest we forget the best quarter of Finals basketball (post the ancient era) was provided by Spree.

Melo is the most talented player since Ewing, yes no doubt, as far as best player, let see how far he takes the Knicks and how much we accomplish as a team before we give that distinction. Great performance yesterday though.

he's the best player since Ewing. What exactly are our other options here? Stephon Marbury, Antonio Mcdyess, a broken down STAT, Eddy Curry, Steve Francis, Keith Van Horn?

Melo had his "YouTube" moment after 13 months and now we crown him best player in 13 years?

Lin had a few in a two week span!

I'd say Amre had a 30 game run last season that still eclipse anything Melo has done. Spree is likley the best player since Ewing.

We so beat on H20 but stat wise he had a good career and a defining clutch moment.

If he can lift us over Bulls or Heat first round he can have that title.

IM not hating on him, just not building a statute on 7th ave quite yet.

Why did you leave out Allan Houston and Spree? They should be in the conversation, I believe.

i don't know know maybe because they played with Ewing and JVG when we had a good team. They didn't necessarily have a winning career after JVG left. In fact lottery years. They were not superstars only borderline allstars. Melo is a star and this Knick team would be the 1st or 2nd seed in the East if Woodson started the year

Melo is clearly the best player to wear a knicks uniform since Patrick Ewing.
