JR Smith is worth more than the exception and he only has the option to protect himself in case of injury.

Therefore we need his replacement. Gerald Green would be sweet off the bench and would allow us to keep that athletic back court. Plus he is only 26 yrs old.

Either 1 year at 2.5 or a 2 yr guaranteed deal at the minimum. For a guy that was in the D-League making peanuts, I think he would pull a Shawne Williams and come to the Knicks.

What do you guys think?

We don't get the 2.5 mil exception this summer, only the regular MLE, which I presume is going to Lin (or at least the lion's share).

Thats true and fortunately JR has the option to return at 2.5 next year if he really loves it in NY. And he sure looked like he was having fun with his buddy Melo today!

Well I think he'd take 2 yrs guaranteed at the minimum.

JR may be streaky...but his D, rebounding, and just all around play have been surprising to say the least. Green is a dunker, nothing more.

I think the best is yet to come with JR. He really hasn't been able to find his shot consistently.

Not true he's been scoring with an array of moves inside and out. Multiple 20+ point games. 32 tonight. Gut check came when he was cut from his chinese team. Looked at himself in the mirror and dominated the NBDL and now will get a contract with an nba team keeping the Vince Carter spirit alive

He's definitely much improved then his last stint in the league, but JR is a proven talent and is a perfect fit in his 6th man role, FG% not withstanding. Green looks like he's just putting up monster numbers on a bad team.

yea I agree that Smith is proven but i was just responding to the topic of Gerald Green as blame B if we lose JR and or Novak. Green would then help our bench if he were to accept a min contract

Knicks do have the LLE of 1.9 million. I run hot and cold with JR, so i wouldn't mind adding a good cheap scorer.

Do agree with Plan B if those guys fall through. We definitely need a knockdown 3 pt shooter for spacing purposes, and JR and Novak are familiar with the system already.

Gerald Green was drafted in 2005, he's been playing in the NBA and NBDL for 7 years and is only now playing well. I'm not saying we should wait seven years for Landry to develop, but could we wait a bit longer than less than 2?

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Is Landry worth 2.5 mil? If he ever fixed his jumper and didn't cringe in the face of contact he would be a legit starter.

Greens 2 years older than Landry....his jumper and confidence aren't broken. He is not afraid of contact and has a natural ability to score.

Landry is a nice guy.....oh and he's friend with Lin.

I'm just saying...neither Lin or Green is really worth 2.5 mil....line them up and I'd pick Gerald Green.

It's obvious he made a typing error because the post is about Fields vs Green but he got Lin stuck in his head because he mentioned he is friends with Fields.
