The crazy thing is this guy was 6-3 his junior year then shot up to his 6-11 for his senior year. He has had this body only 18 mos. This kid gets an NBA body he will be "Scary".
Funny, his Twin sister is only 5-6 and I don't think his parents are tall. What a gift!
He has great potential and should stay in school but no. 1 overall? You don't pass that up. He can play the 4 and be ok.
Certainly he is pick 1. But saying hes the next Russell Shaq Duncan is high praise that will be very very difficult to live up to. Physically he cannot dominate NBA games. Marcus Camby played with a pirse poor team at Mass and they were absolutely dominate. Marcus was a guy who struggled physically at times(didnt help himself) The one thing in the NBA right now--there are no shaqs and Ewings Mournings for some reason. I do think that if Andrew Bynum was first option on a team hed average 25-12 -3. Id like to see Davis guard him. Hes two inches taller and 60 pds heavier.
Think he can handle the 4 off the bench for a year, then maybe move to the 5 at age 25?
There are no monsters to guard but still with no "Man Legs" he'll hurt his back. I thought OK4 was ready but with his little waist/Core it hurt him early.
The reality is they should not let the big guys come out of until they are 21! I know they can't do that, but physically it sets them back.
Young big men are hit or miss. For every Dwight Howard you have a Greg Oden. For every Tim Duncan or KG there's a Michael Olowakandi, Kwame Brown, or Darko Milicic.
Some have the talent, some have the drive, and some have the body for the NBA.
Without the drive you don't get better.
Darko is in Adlemans Shithouse for attitude. MDA Haters pegged this dude wrong.
Big money will corrupt potential. Big guys are often not given the choice of wanting to be a pro player. They are pegged into it by expectations and family pressure if there is an economic need.
They don't understand how hard it is to be a pro athlete but at the same time can't say know to fame and fortune.
Eddy was a great example. I feel for the guy in a way because he will be broke in a few years and perhaps sees himself as a failure. He seems to make decisions as if he belongs to be in a bad place.
Its like Lottery winners, if they are not happy and in a good place they will be even worse off with the money. NO doubt its better to be unhappy rich than poor, but if your a mess no money is going to fix it. You'll only attract bad elements into your life and they will take the money.
I think Marlbes has been dealing with self esteem issues for many years. A man searching for happyness and purpose. I thought the last few years he might have found it. I hope his forclosed house is not too much of a tell tale sign of bigger problems.
