No, it doesn't compare to King going down, or that McDyess injury, but the timing of this considering our year is just sad, sad, sad. You can see it affected the team post game last night and I (we?) feel it too. Lin was an incredible story that wasn't over yet and maybe it isn't yet (this year)...

Lin may not be our "best" player but he really helped bring the team together. Now we get to see Baron Davis lead the team. I'm not excited about that. And Stat is also injured.

Again like last year, injuries at the worst time and to the "worst" possible player(s). Just as Melo was starting to turn it on...

Hopefully, Stat comes back soon and Lin is only out 3 weeks, not sure why they said 6 weeks. It's 4 weeks till the playoffs. These types of injuries can be returned from very quickly or can be long and tricky (e.g. - Eric Gordon - but more damage there). Even though this is a tough blow, there is a chance, even a good one, that Lin is back for the playoffs, then the question is at what %...

I would rather they take whatever time is needed and do it right. We don't have a realistic shot this year with the two of the below 100%. We are still better than last years team.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Dfenetally this season is over.
Even if we will get to the playoff we are out from first round.
However we can see how this group of players with handle this, how Woody will performe, etc.
A lot of thing to do and I think the pressure is off. So in fact this can help the team for the future.
So both Stat and Lin must not play this year and get their health in order.
Also if Melo and Davis problems will agreate they shoud shut it down too.

The irony is that once Amare comes back, we'll have the exact team that most people were ecstatic about at the start of the season:

Baron
Fields
Melo
Amare
Chandler

I don't know, the Charles Smith game, the 2-18 game, Reggie Miller's 8 points in 6 seconds, David Stern suspending practically the entire team in the playoffs against the Heat when we were up 3-2, Ewing being traded for Glen Rice and the 12 worst contracts in the NBA, trading Camby and Nene for an injured McDyess, hiring Isiah Thomas, trading 2 unprotected first rounders for Eddy Curry were all more depressing and damaging than this. At least we should be able to come back from this next season.

I don't know. You have a max guy that will never play at the level you bought him for. This is pretty bad.

Felt like the knicks lifted a curse when the knicks symbolically traded freddy weis for pat ewing jr. But somewhere along the line another curse was cast upon us. Or whatever. It's just sports. Luck has as much to do with it as anything else.

That reminds me, the day we bid against ourselves and signed Allan Houston to a max deal.

exactly and now all of a sudden the knicks are done. Its not over yet. They can shock the world and get out of the 1st round then Lin can return close to 100%

Not with Fields starting at SG tho. With Shump

Depressing? Yes. Most depressing? Heck no. Nothing at this point can ever compare to Starks' performance in Game 7.

I wouldn't expect that team to make it out of the first round. At least 2 out of Melo, Amare, and Chandler will need be playing outstanding basketball.

If you are talking about Melo, I think he is doing a great job keeping this team a float. You need to move on cause Gallo,D'antoni,Mazgov are not walking thru them doors. Hater

I said "one of the most depressing", not "most depressing" and I even gave worse examples. But, I was talking more about injuries. Yeah, Starks performance is up there in most devastating performances. It was preventable, the guy should have drove more, that is the killer. What happened to Lin, not really preventable.

It isn't the severity of it, as it's not a severe injury. It's the timing of it and as another poster said - "A roller coaster ride".

Perhaps Lin comes back sooner and this miracle of a season can continue...

The timing of it is frustrating- last year we lost Billups and Amar'e for the playoffs, this year it looks like we've lost Lin and Amar'e. It's just annoying going through a season to get to the playoffs, with all the ups and downs, only for the team to be decimated by the time it gets there (if we even make it to the playoffs)- losing is one thing, but not being able to see how far the team can go at full strength is worse.

If BD wasn't suffering hamstring and calf issues, I wouldn't be as down on our chances, but he is so once again we're back to where we were at the start of the season- relying on Bibby and Toney Douglas to be our PG's. At this point, I don't even know if we're going to make the playoffs.

Man, this season seems to have lasted years! So many high's and lows- I still haven't decided whether I actually enjoyed it overall.

Well, here's hoping for a miracle for both Amar'e and Lin (and all our other injured players)- hope we just keep playing hard, playing defense and then we'll see where that takes us.

Again, that's why its comical when everyone argues they would do the.Chandler trade again. This.franchise is run like **** and without a long term plan.

We broke down a team of Chandler, Gallo, Crawford, Zach, Lee and draft selection which is better than the team we have now. We are are now a worse version of the Atlanta hawks.

Our future depends on Jeremy Lin elevating his game to an allstar level, shumpert doing the same and somehow getting lucky in the draft.

I'm upset about Lin but hopeful that he'll be able to heal fast. I still think this team is tough enough to get to the playoffs. The schedule is brutal but it's still doable! They don't have to win every game and I certainly don't think Philly, Boston or Milwaukee are going to run the table either, so there's a chance. Just survive until we get STAT and Jared back and see what they can do!
