I like Hickson's game - he might not get the most minutes here, but I like the idea of adding another athletic big man for Amar'e and (oh god please no) Tyson insurance.

Hickson is injured right now, but he might be a nice piece for next season.

Can't believe that the Cavs held up a trade for Amar'e because they didn't want to let Hickson go.

Bought out a rookie deal? What's the back story? You don't throw away young talent like that.

Bad teams make bad moves because of investments in players they want to see succeed.

See Jeremy Lin.

I barely even remember Hicks playing against us with Cousins and Lil scrappy(can't remember his name) being the top guy's up front. We should sign just to have a backup plan.

He would be a nice consolation prize for not having a draft pick this year.

That would be a quality pick up for us. I know we are loaded but we need a strong 6-9 245 PF and I think he would be very good here. Amare Chandler go down--we have high quality insurance

I would definitely sign him to a small deal. When this guy gets mins he's a force. Look at his stats from last yr in cleve. WAY BETTER than jerome jordan, and jorts. Wouldnt hurt to have him and jeffries to come in to replace amare and tyson

who would they cut to get Hickson this year and I would definately do it. That extension to Douglas really hurts right now but maybe he gets you something on the offseason.

I would love if the Knicks could get Hickson. He played great against the Knicks last year. Has he been hurt this year? He is too good not to be getting minutes or to be getting bought out.

He didnt look the same player that gave us fits last year when we played Sac...Why did Cleveland give up on him and why is Sac cutting him..Does he still play with the same energy?

There has to be more to this story for JJ Hickson to get cut.

So one thing that I don't really quite understand is that a few teams are supposedly "waiting" for Hickson to clear waivers. If they want him THAT badly, why don't they just pick up the pro-rated amt left on his expiring deal and guarantee that they get him?

I don't get it. Hickson always seemed like a really good young player. What could possibly have happened to lead to this?
I'd love to add a kid with his athletic talent to the team. Kid has a live body and has shown some real promise.

One has to think Ainge will be all over this guy and will overpay to get him there. Wilcox is done and JO wants a buyout/having season ending surgery, which leaves the Celts with KG, Stiemsma, JaJuan Johnson and Bass.

Too bad the Knicks didn't snag him before the deadline. Didn't they nearly do a TD for Casspi trade last year? Who's running that show out there?

ESPN is saying that Hickson's been out with back spasms and has only played 6 minutes in the last ten games.

I think it's just a numbers thing. The kings have a number of young talented head cases. Hickson problem has been that he drifts to the perimeter and forgets what his true strength his—finishing and rebounding. I remember Byron Scott had to bench him a few games before he got the message. Maybe Wooson's brand a tough love can get to him. He needs to realize that talent alone doesn't guarantee a spot in the league.

I can't see what the big deal is about claiming him off waivers rather than picking him up after he clears.
Especially if we keep his bird rights, Bibby, isn't needed on this team if Baron Davis stays healthy.
We still have TD back, and Iman can play the position, with shooters, and JR Smith take some pressure off him.
JR Smith has decent handle, if TC does go down, we could use a player like Hickson for insurance.

Walker would be the other guy I would cut, especially with guys like Kapono and if Nocoini gets waived.
While guys like Jerome Jordan and Jorts has size, they don't have the speed/quickness/athleticism to play many minutes.
