Without Tyson, it was clear what has been going on with Amare. He is not defending and does not want to defend (will stay with his man and give up open lay ups). I've played with lazy guys like this -- they take comfort in that their man didn't score but will sacrifice the team for that. What Amare has been doing, Tyson has been masking with his good defense -- tonight without Tyson, everyone was able to see.

Amare needs to go. I hope we get someone for him, but it would be okay not not get anyone. I'm not exaggerating -- I mean everything literally. He needs to play not another minute in a Knicks uniform.

+1

All you got to do is look at Amare's rebounding since he got back and that should paint the picture of the effort he puts out on a nightly basis. He had 11 rbs tonight, but to see him with nights of 6 or less is just shameful.

What do you do with his $100,000,000 MILLION DOLLAR contract?

I hate to, but agree. Hating Melo is the easy-out, but he is still our most important player. Stoudemire has become a problem.

It was a dumb contract. But we're making it worse by keeping him as a core player. Give all his minutes to Jeffries and Novak.

Take Melo off this team and Knicks are winning 80% of their games with Amar'e and Lin.

Amar'e is not the problem.

Yes, because in the playoffs the NBA stops being a basketball league and switches over to tag football, where Melo's unique talents give the Knicks a huge advantage.

Melo has had his issues, and before tonight I tended to agree with many of your points. However, without Tyson it is clear what Amare does -- he does not want to play defense. Even when Tyson is there, Amare is the same (except it was harder to see because Tyson was masking the problem). Amare is THE problem. He needs to go.

No, but you do. You are the guy that says MDA's Suns teams can never win it all, even though they were a ****'s hair away from the Finals and ran through the mid-2000s Western Conference like donkeys.

But he got his 27 points, so now he will get the All-Star votes.

I think they can win with that offense. I just think the players don't fit together. It's not all on Melo. Stoudemire has become the odd man out not playing center. Put the right player in between Melo and Chandler in this offense and it works for everyone. Take Melo out and Stoudemire still struggles playing alongside Chandler.

I completely agree. Amare is the worst pnr defender in the game of basketball. His help defense is non-existent. Jorts does a much better job out there. He's far more active and aware and he fights for rebounds and loose balls.

He's better, younger, and fits with Chandler. Stoudemire doesn't.

Amare is a small problem that is fixed by Tyson. Melo kills this team. Melo needs to go.

You can say what you want about Amar'e shortcomings, but the thing is that he is a good team player. Amar'e doesn't carry a big ego around, he is able to blend with the other guys like an amoeba.

And that's worth more than whatever "talent" advantage Melo might bring.

Melo is far from a liability on defense. Melo isn't a situational scorer like Amare; he is far more versatile, and when his jumpshot gets going, we will see just how truly dangerous Melo is in any system. Melo is not a leader but that's why we have TC.

Amare has to be the worst defender in the league. He is an injury risk and he is only going to become less effective as time progresses. We can either move Amare now or wait until it's impossible to move him.
