Amare is not even a pick and roll option right now. His jumpshot is disastrous and he makes the spacing suck. The only way a Melo/Stat pairing can work on offense is if Stat is money from 15-18 ft. Harrelson at least stretches the floor and the defense inevitably improves.

Why are people hyping up Jorts more than he should be? If his movement skills were better on the PnR that would be different until he gets into better shape he should only be a back up to Chandler and Jeffries. Give Jorts time to develop he has potential but he doesn't need the pressure of being a starter and being counted on.

Come on guys, we all love Jorts, but he's just not a starter in this league yet, healthy or not.

I said this non the game thread, but it was supposed to be sarcasm. A thread on the topic is not much.

Pull last year's MVP from the lineup for the rookie fresh off injury and I think you're opening a can of worms for a team that REALLY looks like a tight nit bunch.

Manage the minutes, manage the egos, and win.

well amare's vow didn't start tonight. hopefully by sunday amare will be back. Look we know his defense will never be there although last year he did a decent job. But for the love of god amare could you work on your shot the next couple days. I mean he is wide open and he doesn't come close. last year he used to drain that shot and he shot from a longer range

not happening, but it'd be an improvement.

biggest improvement would be to start jeffries for amar'e.

and also shumpert at SG for fields. not that fields is bad, just that shump is a better fit.

You guys under estimate a guys career resume which has an effect on respect from opposing defense, coaches & refs. Jorts or Jefferies should not even be in the discussion in terms of starting over Amar'e.

The Lack of Respect will be even more evident in a playoff series when a Jorts or Jeffries has no other level to take their game. We've seen what Amare does in the playoffs for the last decade. Have some faith. He's a notorious slow starter and with two beastly PGs he is gonna have his lanes to make things happen.

Respect needs to be earned and re-earned all the time. Most teams have already figured out Amare is the third best PF on the Knicks based on current production and effort on defense. Having him out there means his man on defense will cheat on Lin. But he will start because of his contract size. If we really want to make noise in the playoffs either he has to start playing ball or he should play minimal minutes as a starter. Right now he is NOT helping this team.

I'm not suggesting that we start Jorts over Amare, but you are blind if you don't think there would be a noticeable improvement. Does anyone want to argue that Amare is a better defender/rebounder than Jorts? And on offense, all Amare does is clank open jumpshots and congest the paint. Jorts has three-point range and spaces the floor without demanding the ball.

I'm all for reducing Amare's minutes until he picks his game up.

Threads coming soon to a board near you:
Replace the starters with the bench.
Move Woodson to the big chair, make Dantoni an assistant.
Get Houston to buy the franchise, let Dolan play halftime shows and sing the national anthem at home games.

This is a business, my friends. Jorts could be hitting shots from outside the solar system at a 75% clip, but that does not change the fact that $100MM does not equal spotting a rookie with a 3. Or have you already forgotten that valuable lesson learned from the lockout?

man the Amare hate is nuts.

Knick fans have the patience of sugar highed toddlers.

A guy struggles his career is shot.
A rookie has a good game he's the next Larry Bird.
A bench player has a good game he should start.

I mean relax people.. Amare is what? a 7 time all star? Let the dude work through it. Jorts cant sniff Amare jock

Jorts is a rookie. Why would you even suggest starting him over Amare. It is not happening, and we need Amare to get himself right if we want to win it all. Jorts is not going to win us a championship.

If you start anyone, you start Jeffries.

And you don't start Jeffries.

Out of respect D'Antoni will allow Amar'e to remove himself from the starting lineup after he waches the film.

If is a public move, D'Antoni possibly loses Amar'e ("the Knicks are back!") forever.

D'Antoni is not stupid.

Struggling is one thing. Not rebounding or rotating on defense is another.

Again one thing Melo and Amare always do very well is talk a big game. Amare, loves to call himself a leader, blah, blah, blah and then he puts forth that type of defensive effot.

Jefferies has really been tremendous this season, his offense is still bad, but he draws 2 charges every game and knows how not to get in the way and impact the game.

Amare needs to step up and do it fast. Are starters didn't win the game for us last night, which is fine, but we had another gimmie game and didn't come up with urgency. Which is a ****ing joke.

I do agree that Amare needs to pick up the defense. We can live with his slump if he plays good defense for 30 minutes a game.
