I know people are pissed but there are a few things to consider. first the heat have been playing together for a while now and are very good and we have been together for a few games. Also the heat had an extra day of rest which we didn't have. We had a bad game but still stuck with them until the 4th. We now know what they will do next time so its gonna be hard on them, sure people are gonna kiss he heats ass but once we get some more time together we will matchup better i feel

IMO the Knicks really do match up well with the Heat. Unfortunately the Knicks are in an adjustment period, but after the break this team will have a chance to prepare and I think they'll be a force in the final stretch of the season. This team is deep and will get even deeper with the return of Shump and Jorts. The Heat won't have the benefit of catching the Knicks tired in the playoffs.

Like I said in the game thread: This loss will benifit the Knicks more than the win they had last year aginst miami.

The Heat threw everything but the kitchen sink at Lin. I don't blame him. But Knicks have got to stop losing one and winning one every other game after AS break.

I wouldn't put much stock in this game. The Knicks are basically a team in training. Look at all the players, they all have practically less than a month of playing basketball together. only consistent players that played any type of consecutive games is Fields, Jeffries and Chandler. The rest are coming off injury or just getting back to playing after time off.

Kudos to the HEAT who are 28-7 and have some serious game face on.

I don't care what we have on paper, but we are not close to that level of play.

The speed of their defense was incredible.

We'll get better thru the season but I don't want any of that in the first round of the playoffs!

It is easy to play "Great" defense when you get to manhandle the opposing team's PG without any calls at all.

Agree 100% - we do not match up well with the Heat and I don't understand why some posters believe we do.

They are not a team you want to play in the first round and more importantly, they will still be just as good - if not better - come playoff time. The Knicks need to play teams they have a shot at beating so they can build on it. You don't make it to the ECF or win a championship without taking some lumps.

The Knicks can match up with the Heat! You have to keep in perspective that they are at peak performance level right now and the Knicks have barely played together. Lin is new. JR is new. Baron is new. Melo just got back as has STAT. How many games have the Knicks played at full strength??? Trust me the Knicks have another level they can get to. This is not the peak of Knicks as a team!!!

I believe the Knicks have another level they can get to - but whether or not they can get to the level of the heat is debatable. Wade+Lebron are two of the best players in the league. I would not put Amare and Melo in that category after what we have seen so far this year. Can they get there? That remains to be seen. Right now they are definitely under performing, for the reasons you stated and for many others.

I do believe they will get it together but I am not sold on them being a championship team just yet, something I do not question with the Heat right now.

DobbyKnicksLuva.......

ON paper we matchup but there are big gaps.

Sure, Joel Anthony is not as good as TC but Joel was blocking everything last nite.

Big gaps with Lebron over Carmelo, and we don't have an answer for Wade!

Lin is better than Chalmers but whan you have the defense they unleased on us you can take chances on defense.

I've mixed feeling about this loss. I can see why people say we hung with them and kept it close, but if I'm being honest, the Heat looked on a different level to us right from the start- I was amazed the score was so close at the end of the 1st Q. We looked like boys playing against men.

However, our team isn't at it's full potential yet- Amar'e and Melo are well below what they are capable of, I'm hoping they can get better with practice and the allstar break. BD is very very rusty (although we seem to be cursed to have our back up PG fail to make a shot- TD, Bibby and now BD!), JR smith only just got here, and the starting unit hasn't had any practice together.

So it was a bad loss, but it's not like they saw us at our best and we still have room to get a lot better before the playoffs.

The Heat are better than we are at the moment. That was fairly obvious. But things to keep in mind:

1) When you win, often you look better than you are. When you lose, often you look worse than you are.
2) I don't know if it was hustle or bad luck (probably both), but we lost a lot of rebounds and loose balls.
3) JLin had a bad game. I don't think he'll play that poorly against them in the future.
4) Even when we are clicking and playing well, we would still be underdogs vs Miami. But I still think we have a fair chance if we met them in the postseason.

The Heat are catching everyone at the rigth time this year. They remind of the Bulls team that won 72 games. Barring injuries they should win the championship this year.

anybody catch this quote from James -

“We understand [defense] is our staple every night,” James said. “In order for us to win basketball games, we’ve got to defend, and on the other end we’ve got to share the ball. When we run, we’re kind of unbeatable because we get up the court so fast.

anyways, streetball meets team...streetball loses with 19 forced turnovers...12 steals...and 10 shots blocked. Knicks are going to have to become a team and fast, then when it's second nature, they need to pick up the pace and get into 7 seconds or less otherwise we will be Rick Rolled by the Heat every time.

I think people are over reacting a little, There is a reason MDA left the second unit out longer than he should and a reason why Davis is running the team when Melo is on the floor. It is about the big picture. the Heat left lebron or wade on the floor against the second unit while the only starter NY had was Fields. The team is building just like the heat did last year when their bench was developing and their big three were learning how to play together. The game was not that bad but the turnovers killed the flow. NY can beat Miami.

Any time Wade and Lebron are healthy is the right time for them.

we were in the game for most of the time until the 4th where we ran out of gas. Im still in shock that lin is not a bust even though he has been breaking records but i guess thats how it goes for a guy who is basically a rookie helping to carry a team
