TD, Billy Walker, JR, Fields, Shumpert.

Somethings gotta give over the next year. Prob not this year.

I'd love to see the evolution of both Fields and Shump over the next year and hope both can improve. Each has some glaring weaknesses on a contending team.

Obviously TD out of rotation. And you can't give 4 guys minutes, even if we play some of them at SF.

Walker and TD out. You can't justify playing walker or TD over JR.

shumpdawg fields and Jr make a strong rotation!

If we resign JR then you will see the following IMHO

Fields - Continue to start and play both SG and SF
Shump - Backup SG and emergency PG
JR - Backup SG. Might win 6th man of the Year.
Walker - Gone
TD - Gone

Novak will get time at SF.

TD has been out of the rotation for awhile and Walker is a SF. Problem solved!

There is still a lot of time to make a trade this year.

I wouldn't want Novak at the 3. He isn't quick enough to guard most SF but he is big enough to guard a PF. And with his great 3 pt shoot it pulls the opposing PF out to the corner to guard him and this opens up the middle for Lin or JR, etc to drive to the basket.

This sounds about right to me. Thankfully, TD will be jettisoned.

We have been getting away with Novak at the 3 because we have not seen a SF yet that can ISO. Hawks and Heat will be tough for Novak at the 3. So he might be a situational SF.

Against most any team Novak will be able to find a few minutes with that accuracy. If he can run to the corner and nail a 3 he'll play. As for a lot of minutes. Jorts should be getting healthy soon? He was making the most of his skills and minutes early in the season. Stat hasn't looked the same to me since he pulled that back. Maybe for a play or two but nothing like his old self.

Agreed. Actually think we are missing the Baron Davis issue. If he is healthy I'm sure mike will want him and Lin on the court at the same time against some matchups. It's a good problem to have. Guys will need to play hard in order to get minutes

I just hope that people will like me

But I so enjoyed reading all the whining about how pathetic our bench is.

Now we're worried about TD and Billy Walker. We talking about Walker? Billy Walker?

I think its simple. Fields goes to the bench as backup SF, which he played yesterday. Start SHUMPERT or Smith, leaning towards shump for the defense since we have enough scoring in the starting 5 and smith back SG as 6th man. This way we run through teams with no drop off when Lin Amare & Melo sit. Baron backup PG for 15min. Novak battling Fields for SF mins depending on offense/defense matchups. Jeffries battling Novak at PF again depending on matchups. Jorts battling Jeffries at C again depending on matchups. Everyone gets rest. Coaches will have to earn their pay the rest of the way.

I was for keeping Fields at starter for this season but this plan is good. Shumpert is going to get the job eventually, whatever happens

Would be interesting to see if Fields can continue at current level as a starter when the Melo mojo returns. You would think those backdoor alley oops would increase with defenses worried about Melo on the wing.

Good question. I'm not sure how Field's new and improved game will affect Melo's, you're right it should be to his benefit. Its also on Fields not to defer and to stay aggressive.

It would help Fields case if he could hit a couple of shots from the perimeter. His outside shooting has gone very south this season.
