So as far as Lin and Fields are concerned, the Knicks are safe. They won't be able to go out and sign a new player with their mid-level exception, so any plans to lure a free agent like Steve Nash to New York are now moot. But the Knicks will be able to keep Lin and Fields safely in the fold. This Linconceivable story can continue its run on Broadway.

Since the MLE will be gone. How are we going to fill out the rest of our roster.

No need for anymore major moves with the mle or big trades. Just moves like trying to trade TD & Walker for 2nd rd picks. Draft a backup PG and figure out what to do with fields , shump & JR. Maybe trade Fields or have him backup Melo. Start shump with Smith as 6th man backup SG.

We cant afford to keep JR Smith.

Hire a new head coach.

He predicts the collapse about as often as he breathes.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I say we hope/pray/miracle TD replaces JR and becomes a close enough scorer.

There will be plenty of options if we are resourceful. We need to look at veterans who will take the minimum or the bi-annual exception. Players such as Camby, Anthony Parker, and Grant Hill fit the mold of players who can really help off the bench for a playoff push. Other than that, i really believe we will improve based on chemistry and the development of our young players. Lin, Shumpert, and Fields lead a great young core that we can build with. Not sure if Fields is the future at SG because of his inability to hit the 3s consistantly this year, but at worst he is a rotation player. Also, a backup PG like Flynn may be affordable.

If Lin (his last two weeks) and Shump can take it the next level. I don't mind Fields as our future 3 when Melo is gone.

We need a pure shooter somewhere in the lineup, especially with a lineup that consists of Lin and Anthony. Looking further ahead, both Reddick and Morrow are FAs in summer 2013 and would be unbelievable fits at SG. Hopefully one of them would take the mid level to start on a championship contender. We need that true 3-point shooter though. I wonder if we can find a way to steal Brandan Rush from GSW, who is coming off the bench.
