Yo son! He can handle the duties while Lin is catching some breathing air!

Compared to Toney Douglas, Shumpert is Mark Price.

Why in the world would you only play an 8 man rotation? I suppose it's okay with Jorts out, but when he gets back you'll have Jorts and Douglas getting minutes with these guys too.

I actually think we can go 9-10 man rotation.

Tyson - 32
Amare - 32
Melo - 32
Fields - 29
Lin - 35

Shumpert - 20
Jeffries - 25
Novak - 20
Walker - 15

When Jorts come back then shave 2 mins off each Tyson, Amare, Novak, Jeffries and 1min from Melo to give him 9 min.

This will keep everybody fresh. If Walker struggles then give some of his min to Shumpert and/or Fields.

it's a bit nuts to expect Lin to go from riding pine to logging heavy minutes the rest of the way. by all accounts he's hardworking but come on...

I would go the other route. The Knicks looked good last season in situations where they went with with a larger rotation. I'm not talking about going deep into the bench as a last ditched effort to stay in the game, but as a strategy from the start. Having more players contribute seems to give this team a lift morale wise. It would also prevent some wear and tear going into the playoffs.

Much better solution to save Amar'es knees and keep the reserves ready for the playoffs wars.

Lin should only play 32 min, plus we have to find minutes for Davis.

SMH at this lineup. Knicks might not make the playoffs playing those guys that many minutes.

Playing Jefferies and Novak those types of minutes is not good coaching. Knicks need to bite the bullet and sign some vets to help in the backcourt and front court.

Bite the Bullet?

Sign some vets? Where are these imagined quality vets right now?

Once Harrelson gets back, the NYK frontcourt is solid.

I'd cut Chandlers minutes- he played about 27mins last season, and 22mins the year before that. With the compressed schedule I'd worry about how run down he'll be by the end of April. Too many minutes for Lin too- we saw what happened to Duhon and Felton- D'Antoni's system is really demaning on PG- he got lucky with Nash because he is some sort of athletic freak!

Its such a funky season you cant go to crazy with rotations and minutes.

A few things that are very positive about this stretch:
Novak and Jeffries have improved, have confidence and have earn minutes
Shumpert is a really good prospect. At shooting guard. He can really defend there and I love his future in our backcourt. He's NOT a PG and should only be played there in emergency (see Sprewell)

Josh Harrelson should get playing time when he comes back. He's earned it and can take minutes from Amare/Chandler as well.

Baron Davis when healthy is the backup PG for the year. With Davis and Lin's ability to score you could also play them together a bit for stretches and see how that goes

That was easy -- now try that with B-Diddy and JR Smith --- just for fun.

How deep do you go and how you going to spread mins?

Late Season Lineup (Around playoff time)

Chandler
Amare
Melo
Shumpert
Lin

Baron Davis 18 minutes
Fields backup shooting guard/ small forward
Jorts backup center
Jeffries backup power forward defense
Novak backup power forward offense

I think all 10 guys have talents that allow them to make contributions to our team in the playoffs.

I wish we could have a true knockdown shooter in our lineup. Too bad Novak isn't a SG. That is our missing piece.
