I know I am going out on a limb but I believe the Knicks once Amare and Melo return are going to be a very good team. I don't know why but somehow we got very lucky to get Lin. As in Ewing lottery lucky. As in a top 5 pick lucky. Maybe the Knicks luck has finally changed. This guy is exactly what we need and fits the system perfectly. He singlehandely fixes the Jerome Hill mistake. I know its only 3 games but Lin looks like the real deal. He has a nice handle, great passer, penetrates at will and plays tough defense. He needs to make the 15' shot and develop a reliable outside shot but even at this stage he makes us a very good team.

I think once Amare and Melo return we are going to go on a run for the rest of the season. I think we still need a SG with a great outside shot and hopefully Shump will develop that.

Melo, Amare and Lin will have no problem working with each other. I watched the Washington game twice. I kept seeing plays where if we had Amare and Melo in ,instead of Jefries and Walker we would have dominated. Lin penetrated and made a great pass to Jeffries who missed an open shot where if Amare was there it would have been a highlight film. This happened many times. On other plays, Lin made a nice pass to an open Walker and he missed a shot , Melo would have had the chance to do his thing. Melo is a great scorer. All great scorers ( DrJ , Jorden, Kobe) are all isolation players a certain amount of the time. We need a great scorer. Melo was doing it too much because we had nothing else. Now he can work with Lin and Lin can set him up to showcase Melos talent. Lin can't have the ball 90% of the time, he will be dead. Even if Lin is 50-60% of what we are seeing that is fine for this team.

PG Lin, Shump, BDavis, Bibby
SG Fields, Shump, Walker, Douglas
SF Melo, Novac,Shump, Walker
PF Amare, Jeffries, Harrelson, Novac
C Tyson, Amare, Jeffies, Harrelson, Jordan

Shump is really more the long term answer to starting SG. He just needs to become a very good to great outside shooter. This team is very young and I am very excited about the next 4 years!

I think you're right. Jeremy Lin was like getting a free top 5 pick AND it working out. Not trying to be pre mature over 3 games--but he is 6-3 he is fast smart knows how to play point and his shooting will only get better his court vision is solid great feel for the game great attitude explosive quick those things are there its pretty simple hes a very good PG and hes the real deal.

I agree and all this talk about this kid not being a good shooter. I'm not buying lin shot 40 percent from
Three in college. Get ready for years of title contending and Lin city.

Hold UP

BigRedDog - you duplicated several players and grossly OVER rated and mis-placed guys like Bibby, Bill Walker and Douglas

Here is a more sober look, with Cliff Notes and not just names.

PG Lin (enjoy your first tour of the NBA, we promise NOT to turn on you after your first sub-par game where you miss a game winning layup or turn the ball over under pressure from Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook), TBD - in caps (Summer League Discovery) Waiting on Baron Davis is not a solution (Bibby is toast)

SG Fields (Long live The BBC), Shumpert (learning on the job and finally calming down), (Walker is too inconsistent and lacks an inside game, Douglas is toast until he proves otherwise, they can both take a hike) Another Summer League Discovery or draft pick shocker

SF Melo with a smaller ego and better conditioning, and a player to be named later (Steve Novak is better suited to play he two) A 6'8 college clone of Paul Pierce would be nice

PF Amar'e (be careful with those knees in extended minutes), Jeffries, Harrelson (who desperately needs to develop a signature low post move)

C Tyson Chandler (The People's Captain), desperately need another 6'11+ rebounder here - polish preferred (Jerome Jordan needs work and has Summer League to look forward to)

Misterearl I am keeping it real. I am going out on a limb and saying I think this team is going to be real good. I don't want to jump on the bandwagon in the future when they are proving it, I want to say that I see the pieces now.

I'm not duplicating players, players play different positions and its also good for minutes distribution. How am I overrating Bibby?? I have him as my 4th point guard. Hopefully he never sees the court but on a night where Lin is in foul trouble, Shumps not having a good night on the point, Davis might not be healthy, yes then Bibby might have to play some point guard and see some minutes. Same with Walker. Hes the 3rd SG. One of the weakness's of this team is outside shooting. Hopefully he doesnt get many minutes but on a night where you need some instant offense , you put him in and see if hes hitting his 3's. Douglas I have as a 4th string SG. How is that overating him. He should never see the court. But he does give good energy and decent defense if some night you need him. I am also not saying they will be on this team for the next 4 years. I am just stating their roles for this year. The foundation is solid for the future. Amare is going to give you some minutes as a backup center. That is a huge advantage to this team.

This still isn't a final product and we still will need some fine tuning but the emergence of Lin on this team reminds me of adding Debusschere to the 1968 Knicks. It is like adding a piece of the puzzle that was so sorely missing.

Love The Analogy, but hold up... The 68-69 Knicks had Dave Stallworth, Phil Jackson and Cazzie, off the bench.

Lin is a great piece but:

!. We lack a backup point guard. Lin needs help.

2. We lack a backup center. Amer'e cannot start at the four AND backup center on his knees.

3. We could use a quality three with a well-rounded game.

They're back and it took a guy on a 700k contract to do it, while 20$m is thrown down the ****ter on Carmelo Anthony.

Give it some time. You will see how good Melo will be playing with Lin.

and you know what? for all the roster change and uncertainty and BS d'antoni has had to put up with here, I'm happy that he FINALLY has his point guard. MDA deserved to get a little gift like this, save his job and get a real chance to prove what could he do here. it's a nice story for him and lin and us.

and another thing, the value of a real point guard - suddenly our roster seems so deep with so many options. a week ago, it seemed like we had no one on the team.

this has been a revelation. i really hope melo can buy in and mesh with lin. if MDA can make that work - as well as figuring out how to balance stat and tyson needing the middle of the paint... this team will have one of the most dominant and unstoppable offenses in the league. possibly the most.

Hey...I'm a Knick fan first and foremost...I glad MDA got his PG..I really hope BD can help or lead the way into the playoffs...But MDA has to adjust to his roster...He has to utilize Melo because of what he can do in the playoffs...Playoffs are a possession game...Let's build this team..Let's win...Let's crush the guys in South Beach...Let's mesh and play as a team...We have the pieces....Go Knicks!!!

Can we remember one thing here, our coach has won titles in Europe and he's been to the playoffs and deep in the playoffs before. We tend to forget how good he is cuz we've been to busy bashing him. He's not some green guys that's never been there before. He's got one more hill to climb.

MDA has guys playing now that are following his instructions and are VERY HAPPY! Did you see Lin's post game where he said MDA was a Genius and how MDA has been giving them new plays each practice and how Lin understands how this offense works and makes things easy for him. Lin said that they came up with the defensive game plan and everyone is on board. I don't think we have to worry about MDA adjusting to his players. This team as it gets healthy will be a much more potent and in synch team cuz that's how they are right now. This is a team from top to bottom. They don't seem to have any major issues. When Melo comes back he's the one that will have to adjust. The TEAM will demand it.

This game was just nothing short of brilliant...I was on my feet for the whole 4th quarter. Love it!

THESE LAST 7 DAYS OF NYK BALL HAS BEEN BRILLIANT.

The funniest part of it all is that things haven't gone this well for the Knicks since like 1999 and it's a weird feeling to hear all this praise for the Knicks. This past week has just been so much positivity and every reporter and broadcaster has said nothing but good things about the Knicks & Lin....and frankly its almost overwhelming LOL...like after this team getting hated on constantly and deserving it for so many years you kind of want to pinch yourself and you almost don't know how to react.

Last Friday, we had a lost team composed of Amare, Melo, Tyson, a promising but somewhat lost rookie, a sophomore whose trying to rebuild his confidence, and basically no bench to speak of. Then seven days later we have PG who has bought in and can run MDA's system and all of a sudden we are moving the ball, defending, playing as a team, are the talk of the NBA and are on a 4 game winning streak? How much more fun could this be???

Since when did the Knicks have any sort of luck? (Knock on wood) Can we please just keep this damn team and coach together for the rest of the season? I can't wait for Melo & Amare to get healthy and come back and see how they play w/ Lin but they should take advantage of the fact we're doing fine w/out them for the time being to recuperate. Once they're healthy, it'll be all about Lin building the same kind of chemistry with Amare & Melo as he has with Tyson.

Keep Linning!
