Saw this on realgm, apparently it is true. Condolences to Amare and the family.

Hazell Stoudemire, the older brother of NBA star Amar'e Stoudemire, died early this morning in a car accident in Florida ... TMZ has learned.

The accident happened on Route 27 in Lake Wales. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Stoudemire was driving at a "high rate of speed" when he collided with the rear of a tractor trailer.

He died on the scene

Terrible news. Very sorry for Amare and his family. I wish people would think of automobiles in less romantic terms than we Americans have done. I love cars as much as the next guy, but I have learned to think of them first and foremost as a means of transport, not as toys to drive fast and have fun in.

In 10-20 years, we won't be driving ourselves anyway, the cars will do that for us and we can spend that time doing something useful, like posting on this board how nice it would be to win our sixth or seventh chip!

Horrible news. Thoughts are with Amar'e and his family.

Events like this really do put things into perspective though. Hope Amar'e takes as much time as he needs before coming back.

Oh, man... RIP to Amare's brother. He needs to be with his fam now... Family comes first.

The team will be OK while he's away. There are more important things than BBall.
