Is there a way we can make him our coach in the d-league? I mean he can run the system of mike so that the players who get called up have little adjustments to do and vice versa. He can also improve as a coach as he will make his own decisions.

What do you guys think?

That is actually not a bad idea. He does not seem to be doing anything here

I am pretty sure that would be a demotion that he would not want. Also, I am pretty sure any coach they do or did hire for D-League would run same system as what is going on in NBA.

"Dreary Erie, the mistake on the lake"

Herb made good money as a player and as a coach.

He has lived in NYC for at least 10 years, why would he want to move to Erie, PA and ride the bus when he likely lives in Westchester, has 41 days a year he works on Broadway, and travels in a super-fly private jet?

I don't think "WE" can make him do anything!

Herb is the last one to go anywhere. MDA has a higher chance of coaching in Erie, PA

Anywhere but the Knicks bench. I was a big fan of his went he ended his playing career here but I haven't seen anything he has done since then that would warrant him staying on as long as he has other than being Dolan's good side.

This is always a weird argument for me. How can anyone who is not in practice tell what a coach has or has not done to influence player development.

And for my money's worth, players always seem to do best in the offseason, exactly when coaches are not around.

The Knicks record and poor low post play since he has been here.

Coached Dlee in to a double-double machine.
Extra "E" into a starter in the NBA.
Kept Eddy from dying
Had to put up with Isiah
Had to put up with Marbles
Turned minor league Mozgov into an NBA big man who starts
Kept Jerome James from dying

All his work exclusive to him? OF course not. But he has been on the staff.

who ever worked with Moz did a hell of a job.

If we are going to credit him with his helping Lee get double doubles which I strongly believe was inflated as far as rebounding. Lee would drop back from his defender to grab a board, shouldn't we also blame him for being one of the worst defensive big men out there?

The best game I saw Mosgov play was against the Knicks, not with them. He had some bright spots but he spent a good part of his time here on the bench because he played so poorly. I like Moz but I think his turnaround had more to do with being comfortable playing in the league. We saw what he did against our "dream team" in international competition.

The other stuff with Curry, JJ, and Marbury, Isiah, I'll give you that earned every cent of his paycheck for having to see them day in and day out but not much else. I don't hate the guy, far from it, Herb is a class act, but I want to see more merit based hires, and from what I see I don't believe he has been enough of a factor to keep staying on with each new coach. I just don't see it.

Maybe Martin is right and Herb is doing things behind the scenes that we don't know about, I just don't see much of it on the floor. They hired Mark Aguirre as a big man coach, if Herb was all that I don't believe that would have been necessary.

What they should do is get Mark Warkentien to assign himself or someone else in his department to the NBDL. Maybe that person has aspirations to coach one day. James Dolan has set an organizational precedent:

Renney began his tenure in the New York Rangers organization as Director of Player Personnel, where he oversaw all facets of the team's amateur scouting operation, while assisting with the professional scouting department. He was promoted to Vice President of Player Development on June 21, 2002. He was instrumental in establishing an off-season conditioning and skills camp for several Rangers prospects in Calgary, Alberta, and now in New York at the Madison Square Garden Training Center. Furthermore, he planted the seeds for a talented and robust Ranger prospect system today.

Renney was appointed the Rangers' head coach with twenty games left in the 2003–04 regular season, succeeding Glen Sather who wanted to concentrate on his general manager duties. He led the team into the postseason in each of the three campaigns after the 2004–05 NHL lockout. The farthest the Rangers advanced in the playoffs was the Eastern Conference Semifinals (2nd Round) in 2007 and 2008.

Herb's new nickname shall be el ****aroacha! That emefer could survive a nuclear holocaust! Hell he did. Other than Dolan, he is the only guy on the roster from before the plague.

we've eclipsed the FIRE MDA threads limit a couple of weeks ago. Time to move to new territory.

I haven't been happy with the equipment guy. Not sure he is folding towels in a manner that will take this team to the next level.

Herb is actually the teams bench Mascot. New York's true Teflon Don because he has survived all the purges since the Ewing Era. Not sure what he really does except nod his head whenever Mike speaks.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I like Herb. His roots are strong.
He will be protected as historical oak tree from the times on War for Independence.
We will always look up to him for info on what is going on around the Knicks.
Thank you Herb for being always there for us...
