Nuggets are 31-16 since the trade. Knicks are 20-24 in regular season, 20-28 overall.

So I'm just wondering, how bad would things have to get for supporters of the trade to admit it was a bad trade?

The obvious response, of course, is to ask what would have to happen for opponents of the trade to admit it was a good trade. Well, fair enough. Here's my two cents:

Without making any moves, the pre-trade team was getting bounced in the first round last year. Allowing for annual improvement from Gallo, Mozgove and Chandler, we were making the playoffs annually, and probably at least making the second round every so often.

(Allowing for other non-Melo trades over the years, maybe we could have gotten to the point of regular second round, and maybe occasional ECF appearances, but let that go).

So, to make the trade worthwhile, we'd have to be regularly making the second round, and at least occasionally making the ECF while Melo is here.

If that's what we get, then it was a good trade.

Nobody will ever admit it here.

Not really. I'm not asking for a do over. just asking when supporters of the trade will admit it was a bad idea.

Give it two more years.

Got to see what those draft picks turn out to be.

Only with knicks can the team trade for a good player, throw in picks, and the team actually goes backwards making the picks even better.

Who does this? With Frequency?

Was it worth it? You know its really worth it if Dolan sells more tickets to ignorant celebrity whore Knick fans who long ago gave up being the intelligent sophisticated fan.

i'm going to wait until at least the end of the season to judge the trade. they're playing without a point guard right now and that won't be the case within the next month.

also, i think a big part of the way the team is playing right now is that amar'e looks either limited or out of place. maybe baron helps him, maybe not. but it's ridiculous to judge this team before it plays with a real PG this year.

oh wait, i mean HORRIBLE TRADE DUCK FOLAN WAAAHH IT HURTS SO BAD TO SEE GALLO ON ANOTHER TEAM HES SO PRETTY

But, like, if you were going to actually answer the question, what would you say?

Question was how bad would things have to get. How bad would the end of the season record have to be?

no idea. if it's not working, it's not working. but i'm not gonna say it's not working until baron comes in here and it doesn't work.

bottom line, if you asked me to pick one of the following two rosters below, i'd make the same choice every time and i still think one can go a lot farther than the other.

PG Baron Davis
SG Iman Shumpert
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Amar'e Stoudemire
C Tyson Chandler

PG Raymond Felton
SG Landry Fields
SF Danilo Gallinari
PF Amar'e Stoudemire
C Timo Mozgov

just because it hasn't worked yet doesn't mean it can't. especially since the PG hasn't played. especially since they've had 16 games together and baron, iman, melo and amar'e have all missed time with injuries. i know patience is a four letter word around here, but i still feel like this team can come together and figure it out.

Isiah Era deja vu.

Same people with the gifs and the sarcastic posts will eventually realize the error of their ways but it will be too late.

uh you do realize that if everyone on the board admitted the "error of their ways" and we ALL decided the melo trade was horrible... it would still be reality, right?

you realize that, right? no amount of board agreement is going to undo the trade.

That's cool.

Let's see if you're still laughing at people when we are once again bottom feeders of the East while Melo gets his coaches fired and players traded.

This topic is relevant. What do you want the conversation to be when we are playing like garbage and our "best player" is doing the same? There isn't any bright spots at the moment. None. Why should we make some up and discuss them if there aren't any to legitimately talk about?

Oh yeah, I guess 32 year old herniated disk Baron Davis is going to turn this around.

Let me tell you, if we are relying on that guy to be a playoff team then this team really sucks.

Carmelo is no LeBron...but the franchise touted him as being that good. It's going to get ugly real soon unless somebody drastically changes their thought process.

You're right. This is a marathon.

The finish line is 12th in the East.
