But I wan't to judge this team after Baron Davis is healthy....I see him on the sidelines trying to motivate people like STAT...I hope he doesn't try to come back early and is truly healthy when he makes his return. This team is missing that floor general, that brain on the court. Let's be patient and see what becomes of this team in February.

I'm down, man.

I am really doing all I can to be patient and not jump the gun. I won't even tell you the fear that is in my heart about BDiddy coming back as a permanent cripple, what then? But I will not tell you this.

BDiddy, in you I will trust.

Baron Davis was never part of the plan. What we're seeing right now is the roster we spent 3 years sucking and clearing cap space for. (If Baron plays well and helps the team, it will be a bonus, though.)

Baron Davis was never specifically part of the plan and neither was Tyson, but that's not to say that both aren't important and that both were targets (just perhaps not each exact person). The Knicks always knew they needed a C and a PG.

They got perhaps the best C they could, and now they need to fill PG as their next priority, but let's face it, Baron for this year and next is a real possibility. Nash next year is too. And then bench needs to get filled.

This is only year 2 of the rebuild process. The years before Amare came were the tearing down part.

like i said before, i will give them to the all star break. if we are still sputtering and looking to claw our way to the playoffs, then thats a problem.

I'm pissed as hell....mostly because STAT has been so bad and Melo is forced to take bad shots since no one else can hit a bucket. But I agree that we have to judge this team when Baron comes back. I think it was always part of a plan to pick our poison...go into the season with no defensive presence in the middle (a much harder hole to fill than PG) or without a true PG. We picked our poison and we are hovering around .500 and looking horrible in the process. If Baron comes back and plays well we're still in danger because of injury concerns, but at least w'll know a true PG brings together a talented roster.

I'm surprised that I'm not more down on this year's Knicks. Maybe because we might see some sunlight if Davis plays above average and stays healthy. If that doesn't work out there is Nash who will be available this summer. One good PG could make a big difference. I am feeling good about the job Grunwald is doing. I was concerned about what would happen after Walsh left, who would fill the void? But it looks right now like Grunwald is up to the job and will make the necessary adjustments to build a contender. If not now this season then in the summer which isn't far off because of the lockout.

I'm not sure if the Baron is the complete answer -- he will help some for sure -- I know sooner or later Melo and STAT will come around, but I think for them to play at there peak we need the floor spread further with one additional shooter. MAybe JR Smith would help, but definitely another shooter. Tyson is giving us what Tyson can give - -I'm good with him, I'd like a bit more offense especially from a threat perspective.

The Bench needs to be deeper with a bit more firepower. Of course Nash would cure alot of ills!

That's the most important thing to keep in mind, great point Bonn; Baron Davis isn't part of the plan. That's why is so laughable when people keep bringing him up like he's been on the team.

If he gets injured we are not going to make the playoffs and of course we don't have a draft pick.

We can't build a contender anymore. Unless we move Melo. We don't have our amnesty and we are getting 50 cents on the dollar for Amare.

I am so down. I was watching the game last night and found myself changing channels in the 3rd quarter and watched "Inside the NFL" in Showtime.

This really is boring basketball.

I don't like this team. I don't think they fit together. I hope they did but the more they play I dont seeing it happening. I've defended Melo but I don't this could work for this team. Maybe he would be a better fit in Orlando with those guys out there.

Being that both teams need to trade these guys who are tryin to bolt during the summer.

Melo/Tyson for Dwight/Turk.
Amare/Fields(Shump?) for Dwill.

Build a team around Dwight and DWill. Use the MLE to get Wilson Chandler back? or sign JR Smith even?

PG:Dwill
SG:Wilson Chandler or JR Smith?
SF:Turk
PF:???(use mini MLE?)/Jorts
Dwight Howard

I think this team would be way better than what we have right now.

I'm desperate. This team Just doesn't look good together. Reminds me of the Eagles of this year. Amare playing the role of Mike Vick. Melo = Deshawn Jackson?

My fault for creating a Baron Davis thread. I didn't see this one until just now.

I obviously agree with you.

As long as we don't see:
1) IT anytime soon
2) stupid Chinese league player signings that smell of Dolan
3) A 40-point embarrassment blowout loss, even to an elite team
4) 50 cents (which would be generous at this point) on the dollar for STAT

I will remain happy that the lockout is over and they're playing the game. [sips KoolAid]

I will stay the course.

I will continue to read about the run in 1999.

I will continue to see Shump growing cornrows and starting to channel Spree in other ways as well.

I will continue to believe Melo will change his uniform number to 30. [takes another hit of the KoolAid]

I will continue to believe we are just one PG away from the promised land, or Appalonia, or the conference finals, where I will continue to believe Melo remains LeKing's kryptonite.

I will fight the good fight, I will stay the course, I will finish this race.

Fhucque the negativity, I been to the PhxSuns.Net board. Second City sports ain't pretty.

This is just impatience. The reason the team doesn't look right is for various factors that have nothing to do with Melo and Stoudemire, yet you want to trade them both. They don't fit well together because they don't have a facilitor to support them, the 3-point shooting to take pressure off of their games, or the depth to surround them with quality. Those things need to get fixed before you judge what our 2 stars are doing and try to trade them for anything that sounds good.

He wasn't part of the plan starting 3 years ago to clear cap space - signing big name FAs was. Baron just fell into our laps.

Why does that make an iota of difference? He is on the team. And surely having a PG on the team is part of the plan.

It means that we don't need him to know whether the plan worked. What we see now is the result of the FA plan, and we can evaluate that now. He's someone we could have gotten without the specific cap space/starphuck plan.

Pretty sure that the plan is not done and included finding a PG. In fact, the building UP of the team only started 2 years ago with Amare. What's the point of evaluating now?
