Any suggestions?

What teams would be desperate enough to take on an uninsured contract?

The New York Knicks.

We wait until Davis comes back, at the very least.

In all seriousness this does need time to gel, but does anybody remember the rockets involvement in the Cp3 trade???

They were giving up scola, dragic an Kmart correct for basically Pau???

We all know Knicks aren't going to entertain waffling with this current team for long.

Option 1:

Amare and Shumpert
for
Jennings, Jackson, Gooden

Chandler
Jefferies (Wouldnt start Gooden under any circumstance)
Melo
Jackson
Jennings

Why?: Milwaukee seems hell bent on just trying to make the playoffs each year. Bogut and Amare give them dominant front court and they'd dump Gooden's deal. Knicks fill out their backcourt scoring issues while securing a young PG.

Option 2:

Amare and Filler
for
Martin and Scola

Why?: Martin and Scola are proven vets and we no longer have to run Melo into the ground. This is iffy because Houston doesnt have any bad deals on the books.

We don't have years to be fiddling with the lineup. Amare is 29 yrs old. Carmelo is 27 yrs. Their deals run the same length too.

I shutter to think what Amare will play like in 2 years.

Im worried about an epic fall off like Jermaine Oneal.

My plan:

(1) Fire D'Antoni immediately. Our defense is improved. Now our offense is a joke right now, yet he has made no improvements. Where is his creativity and mastery? All I see is iso ball. There are no cuts to the basket, no off-ball screens, etc. This last game Amare got the ball every damn time 15 feet from the basket at the elbow. Why should he be forced to put the ball on the floor and dribble penetrate to create baskets for himself? That's not a good strategy against the Thunders' defense.

(2) Give Woodson the helms. He couldn't possibly do any worse than D'Antoni.

(3) Wait until Baron returns so he can increase Amare's trade value.

At that point we see where this squad stands and how far we can realistically go into the postseason. If our situation is as bleak as it is now, we entertain Amare trade offers before the deadline and get him off our hands. We could build a team like the Mavs last year. Superstar (Dirk = Melo) surrounded by capable and competent defenders and shooters with a defense oriented coach.

this is a good start to the thread.

I don't know about Option 1. Too many me-first guys that don't play defense. Our offense would be chuck, chuck, goose.

Option 2 is tempting. Scola isn't much of a rebounder or defender himself. Can he space the floor with a 15-18 foot jumper? Martin is an elite shooter and a capable scorer; him alongside Melo would definitely work.

I cringe to think about that. Amare isn't looking great. He plays no Defense. Jermaine at least plays Defense.

We need to upgrade defense at the PF position and he needs to be able to score down low. We need a Point guard. And a shooter.

Right now defense isn't this team's problem. But a trade that upgrades defense at PF position. But I do think MDA needs to go. Our improvement in D is because of Shump and Chandler. I don't want Mike Woodson coaching this team.

Building a Championship team doesn't happen overnight...We have major holes on this team...Amare isn't one of them...We actually need about 3 point guards...This offense is build for a PG...We don't have one...We take the most threes in the league and are one of the worst percentage shooting teams from the three...It's insane that you guys think Jorts is great taking threes...Coach wants Amare to be a jump shooter, more insanity...It took Maimi the entire season to play as a team last year..Somehow you guys think it should happen after 10 games and no training camp...

So Amare's defense and rebounding isn't a major hole? His contract isn't either?

I understand all of that problem is with the new CBA its going to be very difficult to acquire good PG's. Therefore we have to trade to get what we need.

Jorts is a 2nd round pick and plays his role perfectly off the bench. He comes in bangs, defends, and supplies some offense. Biggest thing is the guy doesnt make many mistakes because he doesn't try to do too much.

Amare has NO post up game. He is a face up player who doesnt rebound, defend, pass, and wants to be "the man" when this is clearly Melo's team now.

We had all of what???

Isn't it self defeating to claim we had all these great players if we had to give up so many to get Melo??? I see favors and harris get Dwill. Eric gordon, with filler............. hell Brook lopez and some picks seems like that will be the center peice of the deal for Superman if that goes down.

If the players we had were as good as you believed we woulded have been looking to make a trade, would we??

Amare was good enough last year to take a 30 win team that doesn't matter to a 40 win team that people want to play for...And when that doesn't work we trade Melo for pieces we think will work right??
