I like Fields a lot but the more I watch him the more its clear he's not an NBA starter. He's way to slow to guard NBA 2s. Derozen exposed his YMCA defense.I have no doubt that our starting backcourt ends up being Baron/Shump with Douglas playing 30 minutes off the bench at both guard spots. Douglas has been pretty solid last couple of games. The problem is Bibby is simply terrible, and Douglas has a style of play that cant go for 40 minutes without wearing him down too much.
Getting Amare back will be huge as well. We just need to get all these guys involved. The wins will come a plenty
wearing him down or wearing us out?
are you down on him? I think he's been playing pretty good no? Aside from getting destroyed by Rondo (he does that) he's been ok. He still takes too many of those Sprewell adreniline 3s but OK. Seems to me whenever Bibby comes in shots stop falling and that guy cant guard anyone at all. I believe vs Tor Douglas was +3 and Bibby -18. Yikes.. those #s dont always tell an accurate story but if you watched that game the Knicks were terrible when Douglas was off the floor. The Shumpert/Igodala comparison is nice if it ever comes true. Shump reminds me of Raja Bell when he first came into the league. Obviously he's got talent... Im just looking forward to seeing how much.
I think the problem with Douglas is he doesn't penetrate enough. I don't expect him to be the point guard b/c that isn't what he is. I think the role you feel is ideal for him. But he needs to penetrate more and not take so many of those Crawford/Sprewell/Zach Randolph 3s.
I think people need to stop expecting Shumpert to be a point guard as well. They are setting themselves up for dissapointment. The man has a score first mentality and he seems to be improving his shot. Why would anyone want him to be PG? That's dumb.
Agree 100%. Shumpert has a 2 guard body, plays like a 2, talks and walks like a 2. If he can somehow develop some lead guard skills fine, but ultimately he's a shooting guard, that defensively can guard 1, 2, and some 3s.
