i am one of those posters who did support d'antoni last year and thought he deserve another year and will do much better with this team. this is by far the best lineup the knicks had since the ewing/spree/houston days. so they should do better. its not just the fact they they are losing. its the fact that they are losing BAD. dantoni's bread and butter is simply offense and we are one of the worst offensive efficient teams in the league. so why have him? i have a feeling if this doesnt turn around quick, there will be a change. the watch is on.

He has 15 games I think. If our record is abysmal with no sign of the team coming together I think we see Woodson take over.

Well, the only saving grace is the fact that they have some easy opponents coming up. however, after what i saw with the gs game last night, there is no opponent that is easy.

Dude it's 3 games in. REALLY? The team has 2 road losses at the very beginning of the season. Does the team look good? Clearly no, but it's a bit premature to put any weight on any teams record. There are teams that are doing well now that will not be playoff teams at the end of the season. You just can't put that much weight on these early results. Even if the team came out ballin it wouldn't mean that all was well.

Besides do you really think that the lack of offense is D'Antoni's fault? Seriously that's just crazy. No one likes how the team is playing but it isn't MDA's fault that the team is not scoring.

yeah, and two losses against one team that came off of a back to back and another that played 4 games in 5 nights while we were well rested and barely scored 80 points. when has gs became a defensive juggernaught? they look like it last night. not to mention that both teams were missing a star player or important player in the satarting lineup.

You would still need a PG to setup Amar'e and Tyson. Neither of them are Triangle bigs. Both thrive of the PnR. The way the team is structured we need a PG not for Melo as much, but for the rest of the team that doesn't create their own shots, but can finish at the rim or knock down an open 3. Until we can get better PG play it's gonna be a struggle.

I always appreciate your posts, so don't take this as negative. I agree that its only three games, but the games have been a carbon copy of the previous one. There has been minimal improvement, while our weaknesses seem to grow. One thing is playing bad out of the gate or simply having bad luck. But a different one is not having any offensive flow or direction while also playing crazy and ineffective defense. This really looks more than a case of "its early and they are still in preseason mode". This isn't a bad game but tendencies. We played the same way against Boston, but Melo carried us. The last two games Melo hasn't been able to carry us and we have been blown out.

I think the issues are real and important. With a tough short schedule, we could be out of it faster than we thought.

Not gonna happen! It's all interesting to jump on MDA now and ponder the idea of him getting fired, but that just isn't gonna happen. WHY would they do it knowing that the backcourt has issues? The team isn't losing cuz of something MDA didn't do. It's really about the players now. They have to get it together and execute better. They'll eventually get a chance to practice and fix some of the issues, but it's the players on the court that have to get it done.

And keep in mind the Lakers have a bunch of new faces too and a brand new coach! and the Warriors have a new coach and no Steph Curry AND we barely beat Celtics who were missing their best player in Pierce!

yes its the PG but I can't say MDA is not contributing with his stupid substitutions like Balkman, stubborness not changing pace with LIN & Jordan. Waiting until the game is out of reach to call a time out. Looking defeated on the bench in the middle of the game causing the players to quit. Which leads to street ball because the players are on their own chucking shots as MDA sits in his chair with that stupid face!

Just think about this tho. Almost everything this team is doing is new. This isn't the same offensive flow that the team has had for a few years. This is a totally different flow and none of these players have actually played this setup before. If you look at the plays there is a different approach to the game now and it's a function of not having a PG to run what the team has traditionally run under MDA. We simply can't do it cuz neither TD nor Bibby can do it.

Because TD and Bibby can't do it, the team is trying to go thru Melo and that's OK but even he's not used to do that either!!! So he's learning and his teammates are trying to get used him doing this too. IF this was a normal year with a full preseason they could've had more time to learn and adjust or at the least this would've been a preseason game and the team would know that they can't live with TD as the PG. This is just something they have to fight thru. Gotta hope and pray B Diddy can get healthy and contribute on a high level. Can't wait for Shump to get back and for Lin to get a few practices in. PATIENCE is the key.

It is a bit early and I'll reserve judgement untill Davis comes back, but alot of teams are going through big adjustments too and not getting blown out(which is far more concerning than just losses). The coach actually does have some input into the offense as you like to point out when the Knicks do score well. Just like the coach has input into the defense. Defense and offense are pretty much the entire game with technical fouls probably being the remainder. Hopefully MDA will make some adjustments before BD comes back and not hope he can turn 15 pt blowouts into victories.

It's because we don't rebound to cover up our mistakes. If you don't play defense, shoot poorly, don't drive to the hoop, have no inside game, every pass a player makes is a turnover, and you have no PG, no bench and don't rebound, you're going to get blown out.

I will be glad to see the back of D'Antoni, I think he was a terrible fit for NY, but at the same time people shouldn't be assuming we get Phil Jackson, it's more likely we end up with a coach like Mike Woodson.

It doesn't help when D'Antoni says in an interview that he thinks his team was looking past the Warriors to the Lakers. This team can't look past anyone at this point. Poor play at both ends of the floor is someones fault. For years the blame has been on the poorly constructed roster. The Knicks clearly have a deficit at the point guard position but there is more wrong then that with this team. There is a lot of talent on this roster someone needs to get these guys playing right. Traditionally that falls on the coach. Maybe in this case the players should have a players only meeting if D'Antoni is blameless again.
