That your center you just gave 12 million a year to has grabbed 6rbs in 2 games or that everyone made him out to be the missing link and the defensive player of the year when we signed him?

People thought Hollinger's 35-31 prediction was pure hate but he may have been overly optimistic for the Knicks. Maybe Lin helps us or maybe Davis comes back healthy. If not, this is looking more like a .450 team.

This isn't a great team. They can be great on selective nights, but until Davis shows he is a real point guard again Hollinger is dead on. And do we beat Indy or Philly in a series. Most likely, not. Those teams play team games, they hustle everyone night and they don't try to coast on their talent.

Everyone wants to praise Melo for a big game, but since he has been here he usually follows it up with an medicore performance. You think your a top player and you go out and shot 3-13 and grab 2rbs against the Warriors. You talk about a championship and you grab 3rbs a game Chandler. These guys better come out like it's the NBA Finals tonight in LA. One game is one game, but you can't lose to bad teams without one of their best players.

What winning percentage do you think the rotation we've seen in the past two games would have? They've gone 15-19 since the Melo trade.

C'mon Briggs this was expected. At least I thought we would see this every game till BD takes over. We have no offense whatsoever and that will frustrate Melo and STAT leading them to the lose focus in defense. Unless our Guards can defend we are toast. GS is basically a small ball team that ripped through our defense using guard play and when bit was our turn our 6th man of the year contender walked up the court and looked surprised to see the ball in his hands.

The offense I don't worry too much about because that will find itself. Especially when the team gels and Davis comes back. The thing that concerns me the most is that again(though it's early) we are getting killed on the boards. And Chandler and Melo are supposed to be good rebounders. Why doesn't this team fight for boards? We've been through different players and lineups for years but this is the one unifying theme. The backcourt is a mess but reinforcements are on the way. If the 'best frontcourt in the league' gets outrebounded by 7-10/night we might as well wait for next season.

Elite NBA team = Elite PG + team.... with rare exception, when team has GREAT coach.
NBA team without PG atall will suck. There is no way around it.

Yes the lack of rebounding is odd. The weird thing is STAT seems to be rebounding more than last season? Does this mean Fields/Melo rebounding has gone down? Fields not being involved in the paint is hurting our rebounding. Tyson absolutely has to grab more boards. We just continue giving up second chance after second chance. Pathetic.

Take a look at the Elite teams of the past and tell me who has an elite PG....

To me, it's a combination of superstars, bigs and coaching....Just based on championship history! One thing all these PG's have in common, is high Basketball IQ. Don't need an elite PG. What you do need is an Elite coach to manage these superstars!

I hated the Knicks performance as much as anyone else here, but don't lose perspective of what is really happening here.

I think we didn't expect Douglas to be incapable of at least being serviceable running the offense because he had done it before and not bad. Since we still can't get the offense flowing, we are really trapped so if our stars have nights off, it will hurt us.

Now, our bad offensive play carries into our defense. We've shown we can have periods of solid defense, but when things get tough on O', we seem to let it damage our defense, people missing their assignaments and Chandler having to cover them, falling into foul trouble.

That is why its so important to solve our offensive issues because when we get organized on offense, we'll have better possessions and be where we have to be on D'.

I remember feeling like a lot of the posters on this thread do after the KNicks got destroyed by Minnesotta early last season behing Kevin Loves 30/30 game. And then we went on a big winning streak. This is going to take a little bit of time.

Although, Chandlers horrible start does concern me a little. He has to stay out of foul trouble and rebound the ball. And finish underneath.

offense looks pretty terrible.

and all the overplaying on defense is leaving guys out of position to grab rebounds.

i don't like watching the team lose but we're talking about a shortened training camp, shortened preseason and a team that is still adjusting.

it's only two games.

boston is 0-3, i guess they suddenly went from top of the eastern conference to bottom dwellers.

So BRIGGS is pretty much in hibernatoin during the Christmas win and the Free agency period. As soon as we lose one, guess who shows up to dinner?!?! I expect the Gallo Committee and the others who still hated the trade of Melo to be out in full force today and especially if we lose tonite....
