Stats are very misleading, if you look by the numbers, it would look as if production vs the money between Chandler/Dalembert is a huge favor to Dalembert.
Dalembert is a combination of length, athletic ability, and 6'11.
He isn't a defensive leader, hard worker, defensive specialist, and communicator that Chandler is.
Once his athleticism, age, and injuries add up, no one has an idea where Dalembert will be in the league.
His game is all made up of his physical skills and he has limited moves, BB IQ, and questionable work ethic.
Players like Keon Clark and Stromile Swift are 2 players that Dalembert could follow that undesirable foot steps of.
This 1 to 2 year team option is very smart, it ensures Houston, that if Dalembert falls of his game with his athleticism or stops working, they could cut him next year with a
little over 1m buyout. It reminds players and Dalembert, that contracts aren't given out and must be earned. It's a message that is clear, that the NBA has had problems
with cutting bad contracts, while hindering their ability to improve with the cap situation. Unlike the NFL, players are harder to cut and have guaranteed money that some
players take advantage for.
Chandler, although cost a lot more, he has the will, work ethic, and desire to play defense and win another championship.
In my opinion, there is simply no comparison between the 2. He came to New York because he knew they have been a poor defensive team.
He wants to prove to the league and himself, the importance of his defensive abilities, being our Bill Russel in New York.
With all the TV attention, media, analyst, and fans that questions NY's defense.
We lack a center that brings defense, rebounding, shot blocking, and toughness for a decade.
Sean Williams is a player that is similar and younger, to Dalembert, if you want to talk about cost efficiency.
The league is preventing the Jerome James/Eddy Curry like players, looking to seek a good contract and stop working for it.
Knowing their contracts will be payed, as long as they sit on their bench, and attend practice/games.
NBA isn't a charity or high school, no one is baby sitting a pro.
The way the league is offering many 1year/2year deals to Kris Humphries. Dalembert, West, Brown is a sign that the owners/Gm's got together, uniting to stop a problem that certain players took advantage off. The message is clear, EARN AND HONOR YOUR CONTRACTS, a vow by GM's that payed in advance for the potential, in which was taken advantage for.
I agree, if a Center like Dalembert is signed for us, we need to find a way to get Cp3 or Deron, to make up for it.
There is no comparison between Dalembert and Chandler, or CP3/Deron vs Baron Davis and any PGs that are attainable.
I prefer Cp3, even though there is a history of injuries, the way he uses his combination of speed, quickness, BB IQ, passing, screens, and his TO/Assist ratio is very unique.
For the amount of time he has the ball in his hands, he controls the temmpo, without many turnovers.
It's quite amazing what he does, unfortunately, there wasn't a realistic way in which we can add him to the Knick's and add a legit center/supporting cast.
Deandre Jordan is a great athletic center in which will excel with Cp3. The only realistic way we could have attained Cp3 is if we never pulled the Melo trade.
We can't look in the past, we have a solid team, and wait till we see how Baron Davis fits when he is back.
This team needs time for our players, to gel, build chemistry, and work as a team.
Our 2nd and 3rd units/lineups, needs the players to find their confidence and roles.
Leave the rest to our coaches to get the most of their players and Grunweld to finish the rest.
