I would have made this a poll, but the list could be pretty long. Of the remaining UFAs, I like:

1) Andrei Kirilenko
2) Al Thornton
3) Ike Diogu
4) Reggie Evans
5) Brian Cook

best. But there's other candidates. These guys might command higher salaries too... so I'm unsure if they're realistic MLE targets. I do think Thornton and Diogu might take a one year deal to pump up their values and try again next year, and Cook is an obvious role player.

I suppose James Posey is a target as well, however, my assumption is the team would prefer a bigger forward to spell Amar'e

Would love Reggie Evans if the Knicks could get him.

Yes to AK and Ike. Nay to Al Thornton

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

No one, we're good to go.

But from that list, you have to go with AK47. The guy is like Jared Jeffries times 3 on defense and times 12 on offense.

Is Steve Novak signed? He's another decent stretch-4 to consider.

I like the roster a lot, but I'd rather not risk his knees. The schedule is insane. Lots of game with little rest. I think that's important for this season, but really most important for the last deal of his contract

I think Chandler already saved his knees. Chandler, Jorts, and Jeffries should be enough at the forward/center spots to keep Amar'e rested. The biggest problem with the Knicks situation last year was that Amar'e had to deal with the center spot. It's a huge relief form him this year.

If he's willing, I'd take AK47. Also, Kenyon Martin should be on that list.

Andrei Kirilenko would be the perfect fit. A guy that can play the 3, 4, or even 5 in a pinch. He can hit an open shot at a decent enough percentage. He is a good defender and shot-blocker. He would be perfect for this team but I don't know if he would take a one-year deal at $2.5 million. he could get a deal in the $3-$4 mill range for 3 years easy. If he is willing to come, signing him would be a no brainer.

Kirilenko is out of our price range and I assume Thornton is too.

Diogu? That's a random name and he isn't all that good. Same for Bian Cook.

I like Evans from that list. He can really be a great player off the bench with his rebounding and defensive prowess. I think he'll want more than $2.5 million though.

James Posey is shot. He can't shoot or defend anyone anymore. Not sure if he'd even be better than Balkman at this point.

Now, here is some guys I like in no particular order:

Peja Stojakovic
Leon Powe
Malik Allen
Darius Songaila
Kyryolo Fesenko

Some guys if we don't get any of those guys above: Theo Ratliff, Etan Thomas, D.J. Mbenga, Willie Green

I'm not sure he'd be so willing to anymore...

I agree though. If you can convince AK47 to take the room exception, he's a much better pick up than Posey.

No way AK47 ever comes here for 2.5 mil! He doesn't seem interested in returning to the nba anyway, but if he did, the nets could give him more than what we could.

We definitely need a back up PF/C in the worst way as we don't have one. What happens if there is foul trouble or an injury to Chandler or Stat? Jerome Jordan isn't going to get playing time this year, and Jorts isn't as tall as we thought. That leaves Jared Jeffries as our sole back up C/PF.

Just out of interest- is Fields capable of playing PF? I know he used to at college, but is there any chance he could become a back up SF/PF, instead of our SG?

McDyess was waived...probably going to retire though

The Spurs had until the end of business Monday to guarantee the other half of veteran big man Antonio McDyess’ $5.2 million contract, but they won’t drag the process to the end of the day.

The teams acknowledged that McDyess won’t be back, and the club will get to remove $2.6 million, the non=guaranteed portion of his contract, off its player payroll for the 2011-12 season.

AK47, but that's wishful thinking.
Reggie Evans, maybe still wishful thinking.
KMart, if he's not injured and pouting.
