Now I can relax. Another reserve PF would be nice, but you can't plug every hole.

Sources: Knicks to sign Baron Davis

By Marc Stein and Dave McMenamin
ESPN.com

Baron Davis has committed to sign with the New York Knicks, according to sources close to the situation.

The deal could be formally completed as soon as Sunday, sources said.

Davis cleared waivers Friday after he was released through the amnesty clause in the new labor agreement by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Marc Stein is a senior writer for ESPN.com. Dave McMenamin covers the NBA for ESPNLosAngeles.com.

I used to be against signing him under any circumstances, but have somehow reversed my position in the past few days, based on very little! Like people have said on other threads, BD onkly plays well when motivated by either winning or angling for a new contract. If he signs with us he'll have both to enspire him. In addition, he'll be playing in a system he is well suited for, and will have Stat and Chandler pushing him to play hard. His shooting stats are terrible, he shoots way too many three's (should fit right in), but he can lift a team in the right situation (see that golden state run.

Only worries are the back injury, conditioning and age (I haven't really seen him play much since his time with the Warriors, and that was a long time ago), which are big concerns. Still, he can run an offense and pass, which we desperately need.

Good move. If they can get Posey we'll have a GREAT roster.

B-Diddy, come on down!!!

Great pickup for the Knicks. Having Davis on the team strengthens and deepens our backcourt.

Now all we need is another solid backup 3/4 type and we're set.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I hope this is true. If it is, we're probably top 3 in the East and top 5 in all of NBA

Baron Davis in his prime:

Baron Davis in his crappy Clipper days:

BD with the Cavs:

A real shame he's wasted so much of his career on poor teams and with poor conditioning and effort- hopefully he can turn things around with his time on the Knicks

This is a match made in heaven.

Seriously, Baron Davis personifies NY Swag.

How does this guy not remind you of Clyde?

There have only been two negatives to BDiddy's career: His poor conditioning and his lack of motivation. Those two probably go hand-in-hand as well. No one can really question this guy's skills and playmaking ability. When he is motivated, like he was for Golden States 8th seed playoff surprise, or even last season when he woke up from his slumber after realizing what a stud Blake Griffin was, he's one of the most dynamic PG's in the league.

Other than conditioning (and I'm sure Amar'e's inspiration and D'Antoni's system will whip him into shape), I see no reason why Davis won't excel as a Knickerbocker. Motivation shouldn't be an issue on this team, in this city.

I think for this year, we'll just have to roll with TD and Bibby at backup point.

Which is fine, but not ideal.

Next year, I feel confident Nash will be coming at the minimum. Not only for a last chance at a ring, but he gets to re-team up with Amar'e, and share point duties with his buddy Baron.

You also Iman as an option. Play him in the back court with Toney, let Iman handle the rock and Toney play as the off-ball scoring guard.

I'm excited about Baron...this is the kind of signing contenders only have the privilege of. Christmas can't get here quick enough!

Chinese team going to release Kenyon Martin, per Marc Stein.
