Mike Redd gives us depth at 2/3. Injury liability. though.
Mo Evans also gives us 2/3 depth. Not as good of a shooter.
Murphy didn't play much last year even though there were a lot of teams clamoring to get him.

I miss "Extra E" (shawne; thanks mr. earl)

Redd's the best player of the bunch; can he stay healthy is the big question. this is the true scrap heap; there's a reason none of these guys are on teams yet.

i'd rather keep the Room exception in reserve for a guy like Kenyon Martin. or even JR Smith, also a UFA when he's done in China.

and you never know who will pop free throughout the season.

i'd offer Travis Outlaw a deal if he clears waivers.

He's beyond done! several really serious knee injuries, no way he ever comes back- last 3 seasons he's played 33 games, 18 games and 10 games.

As long as the Knicks don't take any hobbled, headcase or offensive/defensive liability players, they should be okay. The players that Hahn listed all have at least one of those issues.

We also need to only consider players who are sure they WANT to play here and understand that they may only get the veteran's minimum. We haven't any time for any more of these "wait and see, then bolt to another team" BS that we just went through with Jamal Crawford and Shawne Williams, either. The days where players use the NYK to boost their value to sign to another team should be over.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

agreed, those guys are 1 year players and nothing more. In no way should we have to overpay for either one of em.

I rather have Peja than anyone of those guys....

he was super cut probably did the Px90, last year, and I always like his mentality *Mo Evans*
however, he just isn't that talented. Ive see play both ends and he could be decent one day and totally stink the other.
Whether it is his shot or defense, they both can be horrible, but can be good SOMETIMES....

He does always play with heart and tries hard though, but like i said, not very talented, nothing more than vet minimum..

I don't remember why Murphy's year was so bad last year but I have always liked him. If he isn't done he would be a good signing.

Honestly, if they're going to sign anyone, that's all who's left. You don't get allstar caliber players for vet minimums and lower level exceptions.

Peja > Redd

can't trust redd out with 3 seasons or longer, with the acl, and hes a jump shooter.
at least peja can use his size and length, redd is unfortunate to have so many surgeries.
I didn't have much quickness b4 those injuries, i just can't roll the dice on him.
and def not more than the vet min.

I don't even know why Peja's name hes not come out yet. Think he will be great in this offense, at least to spread the floor and play limited minutes.

Jamal Crawford and Shawne Williams both want the best deal for themselves, just like the Knicks want the best deal for themselves. Shawne had several good deals negotiated and was waiting for the Knicks, instead of the other way around. They didn't bolt to another team, they simply decided they preferred to take more money elsewhere. The culprit in this case is that the Knicks have noted that Miami is able to sign players at sizable discounts, because the Heat are recognized as contenders for a championship. I think they decided that they liked the idea of getting a significant discount in return for the letting someone join their contending team. Perhaps they over estimated the financial discount that they could extract, because perhaps the rest of the league is not ready to anoint the Knicks as the likely next league champion.

i want to stick it back at the Nets so bad by getting Ak47 now even more...
hope he can sign a 2 year deal of 4.1m and we will get his early bird rights and get him more money after...

AK47 never played with another Center of Chandler's caliber.
While Jersey can sell him the idea of playing with Deron again.
We can sell him the idea of being the 6th man, subbing in for anyone with

Melo, Amare, or Chandler

My suggestion would be for the Knicks to sit on their hands for a while. We could use help both at the point guard/shooting guard area, and also at the small forward, power forward as well. I don't think the Knicks know yet whether another forward or guard is the critical acquisition this season. What kind of contribution the Iman is likely to be able to make in his first year? How well Toney Douglas adjusts to the starting point guard role? How well is Jorts is able to contribute at power forward and center. How serviceable is our back up small forward. (Could it be Landry Fields, or even the Iman?) Finally, how big a fall off is there to our back up center.

I don't think there is anyone available presently that is going to be perfect for what the Knick's want. So my hope is that we wait until we have a better idea what our highest priority is before spending our last chip.

I think that is a good plan. Teams can use amnesty thru tomorrow so there is always the possibility of getting a good player that way. As training camp ends guys may become available. I am not sure what free agents are available but I know Humphries is still out there. Some guys may have to settle for 2.5 mil that were hoping for more.
