John Hollinger We're now at 36 hours without even a sniff of a rumor of where Turiaf might go. Have to wonder if this Chandler deal is in trouble.

Hollinger pointing out what I assume a lot of us are thinking - everyone in the league knows we are desperate to unload Turiaf. Is anyone really going to help the Knicks get possibly the best fit center for the team?

I read that the Knicks are offering Turiaf + $3 million in cash to teams that are under the cap. Anyone have an idea on what teams have a ton of cap space.

Yeah, this has made me nervous since I first heard about it. There doesn't seem to be any info whatsoever about which teams might be interested in him.

Someone will take him...no worries here. He only has 1 year left on his deal and it's not like he's a complete bum.

Indiana, Denver, Sacramento, La Clippers, Cleveland, New Jersey, Charlotte, Toronto (among others).

I think we can cross Denver, Cleveland and Jersey off as far as teams wanting to help the Knicks.

Here is my take: Denver is up ****'s creek right now. Recall that they *may* lose Nene.

AND teams need to be at a minimum of ~$50M team salary. I am not 100% sure of this number.

Wilson Chandler, KMart, JRSmith all in China. Gallo in Italy. No idea how many of those guys coming back.

Even with Wilson and Gallo on books, they are at around $30M. They need to ADD $20 to their roster, which is a strange position to be in.

So, perhaps Billups to Denver is still in works, and NY-DEN haggling over who goes where.

yeah, that's what I was thinking. They need to get to $46 or $47M, I think. But they do have until the end of the season. and someone they actually... want could come available at the trade deadline you might think.

I keep thinking it makes more sense to trade Billups to Denver and amnesty Turiaf, but I don't know. Doesn't seem like that's happening.


i think it can be done... but starting to worry.

how isiah would it feel if Tyson announces he's signing here, only to determine that the Knicks don't have the money to sign him?? if that goes down, I would feel pretty convinced Isiah was back in charge.

of course they would wait on amnestying billups until they had completed the turiaf piece... BUT, if it does fall thru and Billups is still on the roster... he's going to be PISSED.

Not at all. No one even knew the Knicks were interested and the Knicks don't leak info like they used to.

Is turiaf in NY? Wasn't he playing in France with Parker? Haven't seen that he was one of the guys in camp even before news of the trade started coming out

Hearing Tyson Chandler's deal w/Knicks WILL end up as sign-and-trade w/Mavs, but Dallas will take back TBA low-salaried player Knicks choose

Mavs' goal in that scenario would be creating sizable trade exception, since Chandler's first-year salary w/Knicks will be more than $12 mil

If NY can actually keep Turiaf AND sign Chandler that does good things for their depth, no? I'm thinking Turiaf is a good energy PF off the bench and won't get hurt in that role. Also, Knicks could actually toss Balkman to the Mavs.
