Suns Plan To Waive Vince Carter
Dec 04, 2011 6:46 PM EST

The Phoenix Suns will move forward without Vince Carter on their roster.

Carter’s full $18 million salary for this season would have been guaranteed if not released within 72 hours of the official start of free agency.

By waiving Carter, the Suns will save $14 million by paying him the guaranteed $4 million stipulated in his contract.

Yes. He is not the wince of old but if he knows his role he can be a force. Also can push the Smiley one a bit in pratice.

If healthy can give a solid 20 min off the bench.

But if we're looking for someone a bit more versatile and cheaper, I would go with dunleavy

after watching Dunlevy light up the knicks a few times the last two years I'd take him on as someone who can spread the floor.

Low risk type player and a good passer.

If healthy these are the kind of guys you need.

Every good team needs a slow white guy with good fundamentals to make fun of and spread the floor.

After the epic disappearing act in the playoffs with Orlando.. to many ? He did have some big games last yr, he lit us up for 30 last season In a game..which is why he's a big question mark..plus he's injury prone.

Dunleavy is the same height as shawne williams, and shoots just as good. Knows the game, and like Nalod said, has lit us up quite a few times.
* interesting fact his career high 36, was against.........NYK

Dunleavy isn't as good a shooter as a lot of people make him out to be. He kinda fluctuate from year to year, going from really good to bad. Plus, his defense sucks. If we get him for cheap, than he's worth the risk. But I think there are guys out there who can offer similar production at a cheaper cost. What do you guys think about bringing Matt Barnes back?

Vince Carter may be useful at SG but there are other options. I don't think he has the same issues as Tmac, he seemed to play pretty well in some games last year. In a support role a combo of him and Hill would be awesome.

On another note - were the Knicks so disgusted by the gimpy T-Mac experience that they wouldn't look at bringing him back for a look? He's now about 2 years removed from surgery. He's also got more experience in a role player situation now... and he fits my criteria of a wing that can play some PG.
