If you knew that waiving Amare next offseason would result in the Knicks signing Dwight Howard and either Chris Paul or Deron Williams, would you do it?

Why waive him when we could trade him to the Lakers.

from looking at the numbers, it looks like there is only one way the Knicks will form a big 3 in New York and that's WITHOUT Amare. the only way the Knicks can get close to signing two max players to join their roster is to get rid of all but one of their current max guys. that means waiving Amare with the amnesty clause.

if the Knicks do that and they enter the offseason holding just Melo and Balkman, they would be able to offer two contracts starting roughly in the $17.5-$18.5M range. otherwise, it's unlikely the Knicks will be able to muster up more than a $15M offer. this scenario also involves renouncing every other player on the team so that only Melo and Balkman are left. we'd be starting with a core of:

C: Howard
PF:
SF: Melo
SG:
PG: CP3/Deron

+Balkman

+$2.5M exception

We can waive him, but Knicks still have to pay about $60 million to him.

I can't see even someone as crazy as Dolan doing that. If he was damaged goods thats one thing, but to amnesty an able body is another.

MSG cares more about profits than bring us a ring.

Nets arent going to sign and trade Deron Williams to the Knicks and Deron Williams isn't giving up a extra year of guaranteed salary.

I think Howard or Paul are going to end up in Oklahoma this season. Oklahoma has an abundance of young talent that is going to need to be paid and I dont think they want a repeat of the Trail Blazers. By that I mean over paying for inferior talent. Why pay Westbrook the max when they can get a proven Paul who isn't a ball hog. Does Paul put Oklahoma over the top? I think so. I don't see the NBA having any issues with trading Paul into the same conference if they can get Westbrook back.

NOPE. I'm loyal to the guy for wanting to be here, being a true leader and proving himself even better than I thought. Plus, I doubt Dwight can handle the pressure of New York.

He complains about VanGundy's negativity, as a Knick, he'd have to deal with the fans that undervalue everyone as soon as they join the team and our crazy negative sports reporters.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Was not aware of "paying the difference" but now I see where your going with it. I'd almost say a backroom deal would need to be made to satisfy Stat, his agent and the price. Its cold to move a player you signed and does not bode well. We did Felton Dirty which was not cool.
