If the Cavaliers decide to shed the contract of Baron Davis using the proposed amnesty clause of the new CBA, his preference is to play for the Lakers or Knicks.

Another option for Davis would be the Bobcats.

Sources say the Heat would not be near the top of the list for Davis.

This would be a great pickup for us on a one-year contract. Lakers would pose a huge threat because of the possibility of him starting but we have a lot to offer as well. I think we should make a big push then it will open up the possibility of trading Douglas for a big men that might become available, such as Lopez or Thompson.

if he'll come to NY on a 1year deal, it is a must do. The guy is better than anyone we have at point guard. Guys say he's unmotivated but, he's only shown that when put on teams with no interest in winning. BD wants to compete imo and having Amare and Melo as teammates would likely juice him.

he's not a nut job like Steph but, as someone said earlier, a motivated Davis is a damn near allstar talent..

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

He gets paid by CLE and he can sign for min and be just fine.

He is the perfect knick type. Come out of shape, unmotivated then get all kinds of nagging injury.

Woth the risk? Sure. Keep him healthy for a late season run could prove interesting.

Any video of his off season? We can peer into his soul via youtube!

unmotivated....are people just mouthing what they hear. He was injured in LA and once he got healthy and began to produce he got sent packing to Cleveland where, he actually acted like a leader instead of mailing it in as many thought he would.

Even if he get's injured, he's not brought in to be a primary or starter. He would be an insurance policy.

With all that said, I doubt they amnesty him. I think they really wanted him when they traded for him.

BD is a good player and should be more than motivated here. He has underachieved for most of his career. I think he would like to end his career with a deep run in the playoffs. My only concern is whether we can play Billups and BD at the same time and the impact this will all have on the development of Fields and Shumpert.

Davis is still a very good player when healthy, but I wonder about the dynamic of having him here. I think if the Knicks really believe they have a future star in Iman, then you don't bring in Davis who is already accomplished and would take time away from Iman. It's tempting to think of having such a proven talent at PG on the bench tho.

Also it depends on how MDA would approach it. Perhaps he takes the pressure off Iman in year one by having Davis here and letting Iman play off the ball. You'd have CB, BD, TD and Iman at the guard spots. You could move Fields to SF behind Melo. I don't know. It's really interesting to think of the possibilities. Also a short year with less pressure would mean BD is fresh for the playoffs. Dude would be dangerous.

I think there will be some good players available. Travis Outlaw, Brandon Roy, Mike Miller and others.

Davis would be a great Stopgate until we see what we're doing this summer. Davis is also better than Billups at this point.

Billups looked to be running on fumes last year and his defense is non-existent. We need a backup plan for when Billups breaks down this year.

We arent going to sign anyone to a deal longer than a year with Paul and Howard available this summer. Maybe we can snag Miller for cheap but I dont see Miami waiving him.

I disagree about Billups running on fumes. He got hurt in the regular season and was probably not 100% after he came back. Then he got hurt in the playoffs. He isn't a high impact player normally. He tends to kill teams from the 3pt area. Despite what many think of Billups game, he's still laying on a high level!

PPG	APG	RPG	PER
16.8 5.4 2.6 18.78

Davis
PPG	APG	RPG	PER
13.1 6.7 2.7 17.05

Having Davis does give the team perfect insurance against any guard injury tho. We all know how great BD can be when he's healthy. Davis has had more health issues than Billups.

Okur and Haywood might be on the market because of the amnesty clause. I am sure there would be interest and that they could get a multi year contract but the Knicks might want to consider investing in one of them if they had the opportunity.

There we go with the PG talk already ...when the biggest problem has been and will be center.

While I do think that

1 Davis
2 Billups
3 Melo
4 Amear

has some potential, yes, actually putting a 5 on the roster should be the priority
