I really miss the days of Oakley. And he's correct on all counts.

Oak is out of line, but he speaks the truth. I don't think the team owes him what he thinks he does.

He is saying the team is all about hype.

He says if the see's Isiah he should walk the other way!

I like that!

But Dolan likes Isiah so.............

You've got to wonder then, what these new players can learn from dinosaurs...

Oak's right about West Coast offense not working in the East, but he's talking about the East of 15 years ago.

Funny he happened to be hawking a product. Oak is pissed cause his face isn't on TV.

The guy is always surly, was not always the nicest person to fans and has bee mad at the Knicks since we traded him and LJ bussed his ass when they met up. Mason is one of the Knicks I really miss being around.

Oak may have been an integral part of one of Knick fans all time favorite starting fives but, I get tired of the fact that every time you hear from him its negative.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

That kind of happens when you haven't won a playoff game in about ten years!

Where was he when Isiah was ruining the franchise.

D'Antoni is an east target...too east. Fans (and media outlets at first acknowledged) know the teams he had were not built to win but built to create cap space. As such he should get a pass for every year except last year. He should be judged by last year and the years going forward.

Oak is being disingenuous and is looking like a first rate rat imo. Even Pat who truly has reason to feel aggrieved never came out and said the type of crap oak spits.

My image of Oakley has always been a missed layup. Just remember him looking for contact when there was no need to look for contact and watched him blow up a sure layup.

Didn't he say a lot of critical stuff then too? I thought he did.

I always shed a tear when I see the replays of Oak airballs from 20 feet. Makes me miss Louie Orr.

I don't remember him EVER calling Isiah out like he just did D'Antoni. Hell, I don't remember him ever mentioning Isiah before now. If he did I would appreciate someone refreshing our collective memories :)

Note that even in the article the OP posted, he was harsher on Isiah than on D'Antoni.

Here's Oakley criticizing Isiah in 2007: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2007/11/21/2007-11-21_bad_time_for_charles_oakley_to_show_up.html

He definitely isn't singling out D'Antoni.

I didn't see or read any mention he made of Isiah. I read him saying "BAD" to Curry when he came to slap Oak's hand. That and the fact that the team is the same so they should be better.

To pick a dig at Thomas out of that article you really have to be creative. He could have been pointing the finger at the player, who knows. I know he didn't say anything OVERTLY critical of Isiah there or anywhere else that I know of.

What? Did you read the article? He's never been pissed off enough at D'Antoni to threaten violence against him, but read below...
Speaking of Thomas, Oakley did little to hide his feelings about the former team president.

“I don’t understand how he even got a job with management,” said Oakley, 47. “He had nothing to do with the Knicks, then he talked bad about the Knicks ... If I see him, he’d better turn around and go the other way.”

I loved Oakley as a player, but he's basically an idiot. Every time he opens his mouth he's trashing someone or something about the Knicks. Then he wonders why they won't bring him in for a job. He's dumber than a bag of rocks.

So he was wrong when he was a critic of the Isiah regime?

Oak might be talking about Thomas turning down the chance to play for the Knicks instead of retiring. I loathe Isiah but as a playler he might have put the Knicks over the top at that point.
