The Knicks are making a play for Omri Casspi. Knicks brass believe Toney Douglas and $3M can get it done

...hmmm. then i might be for it. maybe. if we could get Jeremy Tyler at 35.

still say we have too many Small Forwards as it is with Melo, Shawne Williams and Landry Fields.

though one of my friends is claiming the Casspi can play the 2.

They still have to sign Shawne Williams. I like Casspi's game. I agree that there must be more to this trade.

I gotta say that he is a wrap. Knicks gave him a big time chance and I just want to say that he'll stick with them for at least another year. I want to say that Amare's best friend in locker room is Shawne. Share same agents too.

I think I actually like this trade, especially if we could get a 2nd rounder for Douglas and the cash. The Knicks obviously feel that Douglas is never going to be a PG, and they may have had some guys in for workouts who they feel they can replace him with with a purchased pick.

Means we probably take a guard at 17, or wherever we trade up to, unless we are really sure that we will find a decent with a pick we deal for.

Casspi can hit the 3, has some toughness and is an unselfish player. Not sure he can play the 2, but he has pretty good footwork from what I can recall, and his pre-draft agility measurements were similar to those of a shooting guard, and plays hard. You could even let him play PF on occasion, I would think.

Kings get a guard who can actually play D, and some needed $$.

Yeah, Williams earned a contract. A little tougher than I thought he was, especially as a defender.

One of the nicer stories from last year- hope we keep him.

Singleton got a green room invite. I am not saying that it means he is a lock to be drafted before 17 but I think he will.

same. If Utah takes PG early, I think they go Singleton at #12. He and Favors will be nice next to each other.

+ Skilled combo forward with 3-point range. Has quick release from under chin.

+ Needs to improve strength and stamina, and must show he can defend 3s.

+ Good open-court player who runs floor and handles ball. Good rebounder.

The league's first Israeli player as well its first Kenny Loggins doppelganger, Casspi had a very strong first half of the season before collapsing under an avalanche of PR appearances in virtually every city. The Kings learned a little too late in his rookie season that they should have managed Casspi's schedule better; he shot 51 percent in November but didn't get over 41 percent the final three months.

Casspi's 3-point numbers tanked even worse, although he still finished at a respectable 38.5 percent from distance. He didn't shoot as well on long 2s (37.8 percent), and given his poor free throw shooting (67.2 percent) and funky release, we'll have to see whether the 3-point accuracy can hold up. Regardless, he's an attacking, offensive-minded player who competes and can rebound. If he shows he can defend the position, he'll be a long-term starter at the 3.

You guys ever watch Omri play? The guy is deadly from 3 point range, high bball IQ, and I feel he CAN play the 2. I do like Toney Douglas very much though, so my fear is that our perimeter defense is going to blow. We literally have no one now, whereas before we had felton and douglas.

Anyway, Omri is an excellent, tough player. I like him a lot.

Rose is not the answer.
