Daily News reports Baker would be interested in joining Knicks if his contract is terminated by Boston. He was playing well early this year before getting into trouble again. Could he be the short term low post solution?

Why not sign him for the Vet minimum and see if he could contribute. There were times this season when he was off the alcohol and played well for the Cletics.

I'd give him a little shot. He won't hurt us if he's coming off the bench without the pressure.

I say you gotta give Demarr a chance. His shot isn't falling mostly because he is nervous but his D is not bad.

I'm having a problem with Lenny throwing these guys into the fire in the 4th quarter. Get them minutes early then if they do well keep them in. The biggest problem was putting Shandon instead of Deke. Deke, othella, KVH, penny and Steph would've had a much better chance to win that game.

If we can't make any better improvements in the front line, then let's sign him for the remainder of the season. If he's can stay away from the drinks, he could contribute down low and would add much needed depth to the front line. Plus, we'd get him for cheap.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Someone on this board said once that to win a championship you need a stud, and then as many 'almost studs' as you can find to compliment them (see, the Spurs, Bulls, and Pistons. The lakers are the aberration: they had the good fortune of having two studs). So now, we finally have a stud. Marbury is the real deal. Houston was never a stud, now he'll be able to shine as the 'almost'.

Bringing on Baker gives us another person who can create a shot late in the shot clock-- just the answer that stiff playoff defense demands. If he performs, he's definitely an improvement over harrington.

yeah exactly. Harrington can't be counted on. Baker was doing really good early on until his problems started and he disappeared completely. I had him on my fantasy team while he was going well. He was doing better than KVH early on. So that rigth there is more than enough reason to sign him. I'm almost 100% sure Isiah will. He'd be the perfect fit unless someone else beats us to him.

The poor guy is an alcoholic. Missed 10 games in a row... Don't need the NY limelight for this 'distraction'. Knicks are trying to make a playoff run.

Yep. I dont want to take that chance. 10 day contract is different and he might stay clean for 10 days, 20 days even 2 months but no one should give him more than a 1 year contract each year. its too risky.

If Vin Baker is signed it will only be till the end of the season. That's the idea I had when I first heard about this as a possibility.

Every championship team needs a feel-good story, right?

Baker would give us some nice size at the PF spot... but alas, a line with him, KVH, and Houston would leave us w/ 3 softies on the floor (tho I think KVH produces quite well for a "soft" player)

Looks like word is If Baker do not contact the celtics, he'll be suspended from the NBA for good.. It was just mentioned in the Bulls/Celtic game today.
