I don't get what everyone has against Jimmer. OK he's not D. Rose, but the kid can play. In this system he'd be unreal. The PG on a D'Antoni team is going to get shots and opportunities to setup teammates at an incredible level. Nash shoots at 50%!!! I'm positive that Jimmer could equal that and get plenty of assists. Felton wasn't exactly an assist machine before he came here, but on this team he ended up being a very successful assist man. If Felton can avg. 9 assists, I think Jimmer can do about the same on this team.
Now the big deal is his defense. I think again that if a guy like Nash can be MVP of the league not being a stud defender, it's not out of the question for Jimmer to be successful even tho he's not a good defender. What you hope is that the kid takes it more serious and becomes a good team defender. His not a terrible athlete. Not great, but he's got some speed and agility and he's able to create space. He's almost 6-3!!! They measure him at 6-2.5 in shoes. That and he's very strong benching 180 14 times. So he's got NBA PG size for sure.
If Walsh feels this kid is a can't miss player i'd have no problem with them moving up to take him. For all those who bash Mike they have to at least imagine what it would be like if Jimmer turns out to be the next Nash after all. There's no better system in the world for a PG with that kind of game than this one. Remember the shots Felton used to miss? The open 3's and PnR opportunities would increase for STAT and Melo. Just the threat of Jimmer hitting at a high % would create more space than Felton could ever open up. Part of the reason STAT was so open is cuz Nash shot 50%. You simply can't just leave him open. That's what I think they see in Jimmer. Also that he's smart.
