if it is possible. I dont like the way Fields fit in with CA. Sell him at a high. Buy a late 1 or early 2 for additional PG. That would give us Jerome Jordan 7-1 and Kanter who can play a true 4-5 at 6-11 260. Use our money to bring in one solid vet big man and that would be nice reinforcement.

I agree with selling Fields now. I love him but he just does not fit with Melo. Melo needs a spot up defensive SG.

Kanter is a top-five pick if he declares. If the Knicks can get a top-five pick for that package, make the deal (and this is coming from the proud owner of a Fields jersey).

If they can get a top-five pick though, they should draft whoever is available between Brandon Knight and Kyle Irving

The lamentable question: after his depressing playoff performance, can you even sell the guy high?

I like the idea but what happened with him and Melo and is it fixable?

Is Fields a wing anyway? His outside shot is too flat and it needs to be fixed.

Is Kanter a bonafide starter? If we are in "Win" now mode Im all for trading Fields and the pick for a starting PT and move Chauns to the 2.

How good is Kanter and how long could it take?

several of the games against boston i thought landry started well. he was aggressive going to the hole. and he got there, but then took awkward-looking shots, he didn’t go strong. this seemed to psych him out and then he wilted on the offensive end and stopped looking aggressive.

Why obsess over draft picks when we need vets that can come in and play next year.

He is really good. He's young, has upside, and is the rare Euro-big that went to the NCAA. I never saw him play Euroball but apparently he was insanely dominant in the Euro Championships--

I am a huge fan of his game. I think he's smart and driven enough learn from this. If the Knicks stick with him, the best is yet to come. But if the Knicks can get a can't miss bluechipper for him, then I'd make the deal. I doubt 17 and Fields is good enough to move into the top half of the lotto, which may be a blessing in disguise

How about Fields for Hassan Whiteside straight up. Keep our draft pick and take Nolan Smith for the future PG that the Knicks need.

Yeah I am totaly agreeing with you and the others on this board about the 17th pick and fields for kanter. I don't know how or why anyone would want fields after his garbage post season and the 17th pick when the other team has a high lotto pick???.......the only way that could realisticly happen is if we take back a horrible contract that would handicap us for the next 5 years..better move might be to try and get kaman.

and the better the player we pick the more likely to be traded for one of the above.

Fields was the worst player in the entire playoffs and you're going to package him and the 17th to move up to the top five? That's a joke right?

Our best bet is too buy a pick maybe the 20th from Minnesota. Walsh has done well adding value selections there. We need to take a chance on a couple of bigs and hope they pan out because that's the only way to improve the front court

Fist we don't play them, then when they do and does well, then we trade them!

If gallo can be moved, anyone can be moved! THat was like Family for MDA.

I've been thinking about Packaging fields with our pick to move up for months now.
Glad to see others kind of cool on Fields.
His collapse this playoffs was hard to watch.

I'll still root for him if he is a Knicks next season, but
I would use him with a 2nd rounder to get in the lottery, or him and our first to get in the top 5.

Fields should not be traded based on his last 10 games.

Hire and fire coaches, trade and sign players based on the most current activity is like a video game.

Fields could suit us as a role player of the bench we need to get a 2 guard who defends, Afflalo is the perfect fit. Great shooter, great work ethic, good on the ball defender

How is Fields's value high right now? It is at bargain basement level now. The dude was "turribull" (in Charles Barkley voice)!!!

Fields needs time to develop and I am sure he will work on his game this summer. Remember, the Knicks have actually developed their picks the last few years. TD has improved and still needs more. Chandler improved, Lee improved, Gallo Improved. The trend is positive. Fields could eventually be a great 6th man. At this time, he is not a starting 2, IMO.

There are a ton of FA's out there. NY needs to get a solid defensive 2 who can hit the 3. Then they need a defensive shot blocking C, who can hit a 15 foot jump shot occasionally and slam the ball in the basket every time (not like Jefferies in game 2).

A lot will depend on the new CBA but the most important decision will be to bring DW back. Once that is done, I am confident that he will plug the holes and NY will be a top 3 team next year with Chicago and Miami.

Use Fields and pick 17 to move up for Kanter
