yea right! LOL.

there is no doubt about the trade. obviously hindsight is 20/20 but tonight was the irrefutable evidence for the melo debate, which is now over. (i was for it, then against it, then for it, then against it, then reluctantly for it, then against it over the span of the two weeks).

melo was worth all the knickerbockers gave up, and then some. fact.

thank you donnie! can we re-up walsh right now? what is the wait on this guy?

also when will briggs come out of hiding. "Worst trade in NBA history" haha.

I loved how Carmelo played and obviously Gallo or Wilson wouldn't have done that. When Carmelo is on, he's better than Gallo or Wilson. When he's off, he hurts his team more than they do. The net effect is open for debate.

Melo is a Knick. Let's move on.

By the way we gave up too much.

No doubt it was an epic performance by a star player.

Bottom line is really: "Would the knicks be down 0-2 before the trade?"

Cuz thats where we are right now. I have no idea nor the impetus to argue it.

And we are moving right along..............

Yeah he has been MIA ever since the Knicks starting playing well. He was so against this that i'm sure he will only be around to complain when the Knicks are playing poorly to say told you so.

Perhaps Gallo would not have done that, but the fact remains that he would not have had to. We would have 3 guys that could score in Gallo, Chandler and Felton. I'm sure that between them they could have scored 42 points, and we could have fielded an NBA team, not a D-league one.
Stop spinning the facts.

And btw, I'm not saying we shouldn't have made the trade. But lets stick to the facts.

The old team without Amare was trash.

If this is the future of Amare in and out breaking down under heavy minutes and we got Melo in the role made famous by Dominique Wilkens-David Thompson-Glen Rice-Glenn Robinson- of big scoring and early bounces out of playoffs then enjoy the starphuch.

There are different ways to rebuild. Pre Trade we had other options and alternatives to the future.

Its done. The Corey Brewer era came and went in a flash.

Melo played out of his mind last nite and the team lost.

Results or hope. Thats what you get.

honestly, I wanted to give up fields and keep gallo.. had we done that, I think the knicks are at the very least tied 1-1 right now.. or better yet, maybe we are playing orlando instead..

You won't find a bigger Gallo supporter than me. If Gallo ever does that, I will be shocked. Anthony was at another level last night. I really wish he threw up the last shot instead of passing to JJ. That is the only fault I have with his game last night.

I don't blame him for not chasing West, that was coaching.

yea, no one ever argued that gallo was on melo's level.. right now melo at age 26 is pushing the lebron and kobe envelope... but what most of us feared was gutting the team and the options in case we had injuries would be either melo or amare and guys like jeffries for long periods of time...honestly, I wanted to give up fields over gallo....

Do we really know if it was an ever acceptable to Denver to have Fields instead?

I think I heard that Denver thought that Fields was a product of the system. Don't think they ever wanted him.

Honestly though, if it could have been Fields for Gallo or Fields for Mozgov. That would have helped NY now.

Nobody ever said that any of the individuals we traded were on the level of Anthony, and the trade was not a 1/1 deal, so this thread is a bit foolish, IMO.

Who knows how games 1 and 2 go with the other squad- lets face it, we are still down 0-2, so it could not be any worse.

Anthony played a heroic game yesterday. I don't have an issue with our last possession, either. If that is Amare getting the pass from Anthony we probably score. You have to know your limitations- and the Celtics would have triple teamed him, if necessary. He made the right BB play.

The other squad might have been a a better group against the Celts, though, because it might have run them into the ground, but this is all speculation.

If we have Billups, Amare, and Anthony on the floor yesterday, we would have won. You have no control over who, when, and how a play is going to get injured. Our timing sucks, though.

Still proud of everyone who played for us, yesterday.

I believe any current Nugget could have helped more than Fields has recently. Not exclusive to Gallo but Felton/Chandler/Moz any of them could have put an imprint on the 1rst 2 games.

He is not playing with the confidence he showed us earlier... unfortunately for us he chose the wrong time to play with the jitters of a rookie.

With Walker's poor offensive game, and Landry's rookie moments, I'm surprised that Derrick Brown has not had some minutes. Hell, he was even on a playoff team last year.

Good point. We certainly missed our depth last night. But I agree that Gallo is not yet on the same level. I think one day he may be that good. But now that Melo is playing D and grabbing boards, he is starting to look like the superstar everyone said he'd be. I am duly impressed.
