This interview was very revealing...It's a must hear if you are a Knick fan...Ill post the link but his interview is not available yet...Mike and Mike had 3 coaches on, Thibodeau, Collins and MDA...MDA was on last...Only Thibodeau interview is available at the moment...He was questioned about his team not playing defense, then he went on a rant, basically saying he is trying to outscore the opponent...Please don't take it from me, it will be available at some point...If some one catches it, please post it...He got into it's about the point differential and how it's about who scores more...He said we get into a rhythm scoring, and our rhythm pulls the other team into a rhythm as well...This is the reason other teams put up more points against us...It's a must hear...

If the postcast shows up ..please post....

MDA said Magic was one of the best players in the game and he never played defense...He said the Lakers gave up 104 pts per game and still won Championships..He said in PHX the point differential was 7/8 pts and was a good team...He says the Knicks are only have a 1 pt differential...We have to score more....

wow. it's time for another holy revolt reaction from knick fans who live their lives as if they’re in the movie ground hog day - every day they wake up outraged at discovering mike d'antoni's coaching philosophy anew.

its pretty funny.

I would never hire him to coach the teams of the 90s... look what happened with Don Nelson!

That being said he's the right coach for this group. We have scorers. That what the Knicks are. We have two of the best scorers in the league. You want to slow it down? How is that maximizing your talent? Its like having Jerry Rice and Randy Moss and saying "ball control teams who run the ball win titles so thats what we are going to do."

what I find interesting is it seems the guys who are really pro Melo and loved the trade are the same guys who really dislike MDA. So we traded the roster for a GREAT scorer who's whole game is based around outscoring his opponent, yet the same guys HATE D'Antoni. Kind of hard to get my head around.

At this point I'm all in with this group and that included MDA. The trade is history. This is the Knicks. We got firepower! We got two of the biggest guns in the NBA!

The highest possible pace is EXACTLY what we want. Scoring MORE is exactly what we want. We have Amare and Melo (have I mentioned they are EASILY both top 10 scorers in this league if not top 5?????). Douglas and Billups can both get hot and light it up. Its weak after that but hey... thats what we are right now.

So yea.. the #1 key to this team being great is FORCING other teams to match the guns we have.

if you have explosive offensive players the more possessions you get the more likely of outscoring your opponent. Granted BB and football are not even close but the philosophy remains tried and true.

I mean if we had CP3, Bogut and Manu Giniboli then after this season I would say dump MDA (barring some tremendous performance) and go get Larry Brown or Skiles or a Carlisle type... whatever.

we have a pair of gifted scorers here... we need a coach who gets them the most good looks possible. How is MDA not a good fit for this group?

I'm not finding a season that Magic's Lakers gave up as few as 104 - it appears they were always around the average for points allowed, but well above average scoring.

Now- D'Antoni's problem is we aren't an average defense & I bet if you adjusted the numbers for the Lakers for pace, they would be seen as above average defense.

All I know is if the Knicks rack up point like no ones business against the Celtics it will demoralize the Celtics and they are gonna get down on their defense and break them. Now the same could be said for the Knicks if the Celtics shut the door on the Knicks they will get demoralized and think they can't score and break them. I like to think the Knicks will score on the Celtics but the celtics won't let the Knicks go completely crazy on the offense. They are going to meet at a point which is going to be less than what the Knicks score but more than what the Celtics are use to giving up. Because the Celtics emphasis defense and can score more likely the Knicks get blown out in a few games.

I hate this matchup. I think we win a meaningless game 4 and thats it. GOD I HOPE IM WRONG, but I hate hate hate this matchup. Celtics close games like a champion, with stiffling defense, control of the boards and a couple of guys in Pierce and Ray who hit big shot after big shot.

Our only hope is to get a good lead... like at least 8+ points with 3-4 minutes to go and simply match their intensity. Thats when you have lean on Melo and Amare to take us home.

just into the team to see their offensive/defensive ratings.

Seems to me LAL was always #1 or #2 offense and anywhere between #7-10 on the defensive side.

Jerk. Although I do agree with both statements.

Just a case of people searching for a reason to be outraged. We all know D'Antoni is an offensive coach. We all know his teams are not the best on the defensive end. We all know that he tries to outscore his opponents. We all are wondering if he is the right coach to win a title(Walsh is evaluating the same thing). Why get outraged everytime we get more evidence of the things we already know?

I just hope that people will like me
